Overview
We are seeking a Business Development Executive with strong experience in manufacturing, sales, and business management to help identify and develop acquisition opportunities in the small and mid-sized manufacturing sector.
This role focuses on researching potential acquisition targets, building relationships with business owners, and assessing alignment for potential transactions. The ideal candidate understands manufacturing operations and can communicate credibly with owners about business value, operations, and long-term growth opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify Acquisition Targets
- Research and build a pipeline of small and medium-sized manufacturing businesses that meet defined acquisition criteria.
- Analyze industries, geographic regions, and company profiles to identify strategic targets.
- Owner Outreach & Relationship Building
- Initiate outreach to business owners via email, phone, and networking.
- Develop trusted relationships with owners and senior leadership teams.
- Assess the owner’s openness to acquisition, partnership, or succession planning.
- Target Screening
- Conduct preliminary evaluation of potential targets including:
- Revenue size and profitability
- Industry positioning
- Customer concentration
- Competitive advantages or proprietary products
- Deal Pipeline Development
- Maintain and manage a pipeline of qualified acquisition opportunities.
- Document key insights from conversations with owners and leadership teams.
- Strategic Alignment
- Facilitate early discussions between owners and acquisition stakeholders.
- Identify strategic fit and long-term value creation opportunities.
- Market Intelligence
- Monitor trends in manufacturing sectors and identify emerging acquisition opportunities.
- Develop insights on industry consolidation and succession trends among privately owned businesses.
- Work hours: US EST work time
Qualifications
- 5–10+ years of experience in one or more of the following:
- Manufacturing management
- Business development
- Sales leadership
- Mergers & acquisitions
- Manufacturing consulting or advisory
- Strong understanding of manufacturing business operations including revenue models, production, and supply chains.
- Experience communicating with business owners, founders, or executives.
- Ability to evaluate businesses at a high level from both operational and financial perspectives.
- Strong skills in:

Preferred Experience
- Experience working with privately owned manufacturing companies.
- Familiarity with buy-side acquisition sourcing or deal origination.
- Background in operations, engineering, or industrial manufacturing sectors.
