About HANCER
HANCER is India's first blending water supplied in 250 ml nitrogen-sealed aluminium can. Engineered specifically for whisky dilution. Not a mixer, Not a mineral water. A whisky accessory, calibrated to a published specification that removes mineral interference and preserves the distiller's craft.
We are building a new product category in India's premium spirits market. Our trade channel is premium on-trade venues. Five-star hotel bars, standalone whisky bars, fine dining restaurants and luxury event organisers. Our commercial model delivers high gross margin per can to the venue with zero additional labour, no menu redesign, and no staff retraining.

The Role
We are looking for a Business Development Manager to own HANCER's on-trade growth across Mumbai and Pune. This is a solo, field-based role. You will independently identify, approach, pitch, and close premium venue accounts - conducting the full sales cycle from walk-in to first order.
You will report directly to the Founder & Managing Director.
This is not a support or coordination role. You will be the face of HANCER in two of India's most important premium hospitality markets. You will walk into venues, sit across from F&B Directors and Beverage Managers, present a commercial case backed by real margin data, and close listings. Every conversation you have represents the brand.
What You Will Do
Territory Ownership
- Own the Mumbai and Pune markets end to end - from building the target venue list to closing first orders and managing post-listing relationships.
- Identify and qualify premium venue accounts against HANCER's venue qualification standard (minimum 4 single malt SKUs on the active menu or average whisky pour price ≥₹800).
- Conduct pre-visit research on each venue's whisky programme, F&B leadership, and current water/accompaniment practice before every approach.
Sales Execution
- Conduct walk-in visits to premium venues with chilled product samples. The walk-in is the primary first-contact method. Not email, not cold calls.
- Secure meetings with F&B Directors, Beverage Managers and the purchasing decision-makers.
- Deliver the full commercial pitch independently: margin case, product specification, operational simplicity, and category positioning.
- Handle objections on price, category unfamiliarity, and supply with confidence and commercial fluency.
- Close venue accounts: secure verbal commitment, coordinate pro-forma invoice, confirm advance payment, and ensure MRP compliance acknowledgement, all within HANCER's locked commercial terms.
Relationship Building
- Build and maintain relationships with F&B Directors, Beverage Managers, and Head Bartenders at listed venues.
- Monitor reorder velocity and proactively manage account health post-listing.
- Identify and engage luxury event organisers and premium caterers as a parallel revenue channel.
- Source distributor referrals through your venue conversations — the best distributor leads come from F&B Directors who trust your product.
Reporting & Pipeline Management
- Maintain a disciplined pipeline: every visit logged on the day of visit, every interaction summarised with next action and date.
- Provide weekly territory updates to the Founder: pipeline status, conversion progress, objection patterns, market intelligence.
- Flag any non-standard commercial requests immediately - HANCER operates on locked commercial terms with no pricing discretion at the field level.
Who You Are
Experience & Background
- 2–5 years in B2B sales within premium beverages, spirits, or HoReCa - or a hungry, driven professional with 1–2 years and the right instincts.
- You have walked into premium venues before. You understand the rhythm of a hotel bar, the hierarchy of a beverage programme, and the difference between an F&B Director and a restaurant manager.
- Existing relationships with F&B Directors or Beverage Managers in Mumbai and/or Pune is a strong advantage.
- Experience with a premium spirits brand (single malt, craft spirits, premium wine) or a premium beverage distributor is ideal.
- Understanding of on-trade channel economics inlcuding how venue margins work, how listings are approved, how reorders are triggered.
Skills & Attributes
- Commercially fluent. You can present a margin case with numbers, not just product features.
- Self-directed. This is a field role with no office, no hand-holding, and no daily check-ins. You manage your own schedule, route, and pipeline.
- Professionally presented. You will be representing HANCER in India's most premium hospitality environments such as five-star hotel bars, luxury venues, and high-end event spaces.
- Disciplined on process. Every visit logged. Every follow-up on time. Every commercial term is quoted accurately.
- Comfortable with ambiguity. We are building a new product category. There is no playbook from a competitor to copy. You will be explaining a product that most venues have never encountered.
