Funky Rainbow is an independent children’s bookshop and literacy partner based in Bengaluru, India, with an additional store in Mysore. We work with parents, schools, educators, and libraries to foster a love for reading among children through curated books, literary events, and educator support. Our services include book curation, school literature festivals, book fairs, author visits, library consulting, storytelling workshops, and student reading clubs. Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role based in Bengaluru for a Business Development Manager. The role involves identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, building relationships with schools, educators, and libraries, and developing strategies to expand the organization’s reach. The manager will oversee partnerships, coordinate with internal teams to tailor solutions to client needs, and manage the implementation of literacy programs and events, such as school literature festivals and book fairs. A focus on measurable outcomes and building long-term collaborations is key.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in business development, client relationship management, and achieving sales targets
- Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders such as educators, librarians, and school leaders
- Planning and organizational skills to manage multiple projects, such as literature festivals, workshops, and book fairs
- Understanding of the education sector or children’s literature is advantageous
- Proficiency in market research, sales strategies, and presentation skills
- Ability to work collaboratively and provide creative solutions tailored to client needs
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Education, or related field
- Willingness to work on-site in Bengaluru and travel for work-related events as required
