ROLE OVERVIEW
We are looking for an experienced and driven Business Development Manager to lead and grow Mecwin's Aerospace & Defence (A&D) business vertical. The ideal candidate will have deep domain expertise in the Indian A&D ecosystem, a proven ability to navigate public sector procurement processes, and the technical fluency to champion motor and motion system solutions to defence and aerospace OEMs, PSUs, and research establishments.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
▸ Generate and grow business from the Aerospace & Defence vertical, achieving targets across government, private, and trading segments.
▸ Build and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders at HAL, BEML, ADA, DRDO, ISRO, CASDIC, Indian Army, and Indian Air Force.
▸ Identify, track, and bid for opportunities on all relevant public procurement portals including GeM, CPPP, and defence-specific tenders.
▸ Manage a portfolio of 20+ concurrent projects — from initial enquiry through to delivery and post-delivery support.
▸ Work closely with the Engineering and QC teams to initiate product qualification processes and ensure compliance with defence sector standards.
▸ Ensure awareness of and compliance with all relevant certifications, qualifications, and regulatory requirements for the defence sector (AS9100, MSME, DPIIT, DPSU vendor registration, etc.).
▸ Collaborate with internal stakeholders on product presentations, technical documentation, and customer demos.
▸ Prepare and submit accurate MIS reports on pipeline, revenue, activities, and customer engagement on a regular basis.
▸ Travel a minimum of 8 days per month to customer locations across India for meetings, follow-ups, and product qualification activities.
▸ Drive enquiry-to-delivery ownership — take full accountability for each opportunity from identification to order closure and handover.
TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
▸ Starter Motors — design principles, applications in aerospace and defence platforms.
▸ BLDC (Brushless DC) Motors — traction, actuation, and drive system applications.
▸ PMSM (Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors) — servo and precision motion applications.
▸ PMDC (Permanent Magnet DC) Motors — legacy and low-voltage defence applications.
▸ Actuators — linear and rotary, electromechanical systems for aerospace and ground platforms.
▸ Basic understanding of motor controllers, drive electronics, and qualification testing procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
▸ 8 to 10 years of experience purely in Aerospace & Defence business development — no exceptions.
▸ BE / M.Tech / Diploma in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, or a related engineering discipline.
▸ Demonstrated track record of revenue generation from A&D clients in India.
▸ In-depth knowledge of defence procurement processes, DPP/DAP policy, and vendor registration procedures.
▸ Hands-on experience with GeM portal, CPPP, and defence-specific procurement systems.
▸ Familiarity with required certifications — AS9100, CEMILAC, DGAQA, MSME registration, DPSU vendor enlistment, etc.
▸ Existing relationships and network within HAL, BEML, ADA, DRDO, ISRO, Indian Army, or Indian Air Force will be a strong advantage.
