India's startup ecosystem is exploding. Thousands of VC-backed companies are hiring right now with no dedicated recruitment partner who truly understands their world. That is the gap we are here to fill and we need the right person to go get that market.
As our Business Development Manager, you will be the bridge between Valarr and India's most ambitious founders. You will identify funded startups, build genuine relationships, and convert them into long-term Valarr clients. This is a founding role — you will not just execute a playbook, you will build one.
What You Will Own
Client Acquisition
Identify and research VC-backed startups that are actively hiring or about to scale
Build a sharp, consistent outreach pipeline using funding announcements, VC portfolio pages, LinkedIn, startup communities, and founder networks
Execute personalised, high-quality outreach that cuts through the noise and gets founders to respond
Own the full BD cycle — from first message to discovery call to signed partnership agreement
Ecosystem & Partnerships
Build strategic relationships with VC firms, angel investors, accelerators, and incubators to generate warm introductions into their portfolio companies
Represent Valarr at startup events, demo days, pitch competitions, and founder meetups across India
Position Valarr as the go-to hiring partner in every room you walk into
Pipeline & Playbook
Manage and maintain a live pipeline of prospects, conversations, and active deals
Track outreach performance what messages work, what channels convert, what objections come up
Build a repeatable, scalable BD playbook from scratch that Valarr can grow with
Client Onboarding & Relationship Management
Own the client onboarding experience ensure every new startup partner has a seamless handoff to the delivery team
Stay close to active clients, identify expansion opportunities, and drive retention
Act as the voice of the client internally feedback from founders should shape how Valarr operates
What Success Looks Like
- 20 new client partnerships onboarded every month
- A warm pipeline of 50+ active startup prospects at all times
- At least 3 VC or accelerator partnerships generating consistent referrals
Who You Are
Experience
2–5 years in business development, sales, or partnerships
Experience in recruitment, staffing, HR tech, or the startup ecosystem is strongly preferred
Demonstrated track record of hitting and exceeding targets in a BD or sales role
Mindset & Skills
- You understand how founders think you speak their language, you respect their time, and you know how to earn their trust
- You write cold outreach that gets replies not templated, not generic, genuinely personalised
- You are a natural relationship builder who plays the long game — not a transactional closer who disappears after the deal
- You are obsessive about pipeline hygiene — you know where every deal stands at every moment
- You thrive in ambiguity and build structure where none exists
- You do not wait for direction — you identify what needs to be done and you do it
