About BulBul
BulBul is a mass-premium Indian ethnic wear brand with 10+ years of manufacturing expertise and its own production facility. We design and produce salwar suits, kurta sets, co-ord sets, and fusion wear — sold across leading marketplaces (Myntra, Nykaa Fashion, AJIO), wholesale, and our D2C channel. We are now expanding into offline retail through Shop-in-Shop (SIS) partnerships and need a driven individual to lead this channel from the ground up.
Role Overview
You will own the end-to-end SIS channel — from identifying and signing retail partners, to store setup, to managing ongoing sell-through performance. This is a builder role, not a maintenance role. You will be creating BulBul’s offline retail presence from scratch and will be directly accountable for SIS revenue targets.
Key Responsibilities
SIS Partner Acquisition & Onboarding
• Identify, evaluate, and sign SIS partnerships with multi-brand outlets (MBOs), large format retailers, and regional retail chains across key markets
• Build a target list of potential SIS partners based on catchment area analysis, store footfall, brand fit, and customer demographics
• Negotiate commercial terms including revenue-sharing models, minimum guarantees, fixture costs, and exclusivity clauses
• Own the complete onboarding process — from agreement signing to store setup, fixture installation, and visual merchandising compliance
• Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of prospective retail partners with clear conversion timelines
Sales Performance & Revenue Management
• Own SIS channel revenue targets — monthly, quarterly, and annual — with full P&L accountability
• Track and drive sell-through rates at each SIS location; identify underperforming stores and execute corrective action plans
• Coordinate with the production and inventory team to ensure optimal stock allocation per store based on regional demand, size ratios, and seasonal trends
• Plan and execute in-store promotions, festive pushes, and markdown strategies in coordination with the brand team
• Establish a weekly/monthly MIS reporting cadence covering store-wise sales, stock health, return rates, and margin analysis
Retail Partner Relationship Management
• Serve as the primary point of contact for all SIS retail partners; build long-term relationships based on trust and commercial results
• Conduct regular store visits to audit VM standards, staff product knowledge, and overall brand representation
• Resolve partner escalations related to stock issues, billing, returns, or commercial terms promptly
• Gather and relay ground-level market intelligence — competitor activity, customer feedback, pricing trends — to the brand and product teams
Store Operations & Visual Merchandising
• Ensure every SIS counter meets BulBul’s brand guidelines for display, signage, lighting, and product presentation
• Coordinate with internal design/VM team for fixture design, POS materials, and seasonal refresh cycles
• Train store staff on BulBul’s product range, brand positioning, key selling points, and customer engagement approach
• Monitor inventory replenishment cycles to prevent stockouts of fast-moving SKUs and manage slow-movers proactively
Market Expansion & Strategy
• Develop a phased city-wise and region-wise SIS expansion roadmap aligned with BulBul’s brand and revenue goals
• Research and recommend priority geographies based on ethnic wear market potential, competitive landscape, and retailer density
• Track industry trends in offline ethnic wear retail, SIS models, and franchise formats to inform strategy
• Present monthly business reviews to leadership with data-backed insights on channel performance, expansion progress, and strategic recommendations
Requirements
Must-Have
• 5–7 years of experience in retail business development, SIS expansion, or MBO channel management in fashion/apparel/ethnic wear
• Proven track record of signing and scaling SIS/shop-in-shop partnerships with measurable revenue outcomes
• Existing network of retail contacts — MBO owners, large format retail buyers, or regional chain decision-makers — is a strong advantage
• Strong commercial acumen: ability to negotiate terms, read P&L statements, and make data-driven decisions
• Willingness to travel extensively (60–70% of the time) across target markets
• Hands-on, execution-first mindset — this is not a delegation-heavy corporate role; you will be on the ground building
Good-to-Have
• Prior experience in ethnic wear or women’s apparel brands (Biba, W, Aurelia, Global Desi, Soch, or similar)
• Experience working with both large format retail (Lifestyle, Shoppers Stop, Central) and independent MBOs
• Understanding of visual merchandising principles and retail store operations
• Familiarity with retail billing/POS systems and inventory management tools
What You Get
• Ground-floor opportunity to build an entirely new revenue channel for an established brand with real manufacturing muscle
• Direct access to leadership — no layers of bureaucracy between you and decision-making
• A brand with 10+ years of production expertise, strong marketplace presence, and a premium positioning that retailers want on their shelves
• Performance-linked incentives tied directly to SIS revenue milestones
