Position: Business Development Manager – Iron Ore Sales (China & Global Markets)
Department: International Trade & Commodity Sales
Location: Flexible (India / International Travel Required)
About the Role
We are looking for a dynamic and commercially driven Business Development Manager to lead and expand our Iron Ore sales across China and key global markets. The role requires deep expertise in bulk commodity trading, strong global networks, and the ability to manage high-value, volume-driven transactions in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute sales strategies for iron ore across China and international markets
- Build and maintain strong relationships with:
- Steel mills
- Commodity traders
- Industrial buyers
- Drive business development and market expansion in regions including:
- China
- India
- Japan
- South Korea
- Southeast Asia
- Europe
- Negotiate and finalize long-term contracts and spot deals with global counterparties
- Monitor and analyze key iron ore pricing benchmarks:
- CFR China
- Platts Index
- SGX pricing
- Identify new trading opportunities and optimize profitability and margins
- Coordinate with logistics teams for:
- Vessel scheduling
- Shipment planning
- Delivery execution
- Manage credit exposure, contract compliance, and risk assessment
- Stay updated on global supply-demand trends, freight markets, and regulatory changes
Required Experience
- 5–20 years of experience in:
- Iron ore trading
- Mineral commodities
- Steel raw material sales
- Strong exposure to China market and steel industry ecosystem
- Experience working with:
- Mining companies
- Global trading houses
- Steel manufacturers
- Proven track record of handling large-volume, high-value commodity transactions
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills
- Deep understanding of global commodity markets and pricing mechanisms
- Analytical mindset with ability to interpret market trends and indices
- Established industry network (steel mills, traders, logistics partners)
- Excellent deal-closing and relationship management skills
- Ability to thrive in volatile and fast-moving trading environments
- Strong international communication skills (English mandatory; Mandarin is an advantage)

- Exposure to China import/export iron ore trade flows is highly preferred
