Role Description The Business Development Lead, C&I Solar will drive growth for commercial and industrial rooftop solar projects in Hyderabad through strategic prospecting, relationship building, and end-to-end sales management. This full-time, on-site role involves identifying target segments, generating qualified leads, and conducting market research to understand customer needs and competitive offerings. The Business Development Lead will meet with potential clients, deliver tailored proposals, coordinate technical inputs with the engineering team, and manage the sales pipeline from initial contact to contract closure.
The role includes maintaining strong customer service standards, ensuring timely follow-ups, and supporting clients through the pre- and post-installation phases. The person in this position will also track performance metrics, provide feedback on market trends, and collaborate with leadership to refine go-to-market strategies and revenue goals.
Compensation includes a base salary and profit sharing package.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Own and drive business development activities for the Commercial and Industrial (C&I) solar segment within the assigned territory.
- Identify, develop, and qualify new business opportunities through direct sales, referrals, channel partners, consultants, and strategic alliances.
- Build and maintain a healthy sales pipeline. Convert qualified leads into profitable orders.
- Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual order booking, revenue, and gross margin targets.
- Understand customer energy requirements and propose optimized techno commercial solutions in coordination with the engineering and design teams.
- Prepare and present proposals, financial models, and commercial offers for rooftop solar, ground mounted solar, captive, group captive, and OPEX or PPA projects.
- Lead commercial negotiations and successfully close EPC, RESCO, and PPA agreements.
- Build strong relationships with CXOs, plant heads, procurement teams, consultants, EPC partners, DISCOMS official and key decision makers.
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, project execution, finance, and legal teams to ensure smooth project execution and customer satisfaction.
- Support due diligence activities including site visits, feasibility assessments, and commercial evaluations.
- Develop and manage channel partners, EPC consultants, and referral networks to expand market reach.
- Maintain accurate sales forecasts, customer records, and opportunity updates in the CRM or ERP system.
- Track market trends, competitor activities, industry regulations, and government policies to identify new business opportunities.
- Represent the company at industry events, exhibitions, conferences, and networking forums to strengthen brand visibility.
- Ensure timely project handover and obtain customer feedback to support long term account growth and repeat business.
Skills and Competencies

- High energy levels and willingness to travel extensively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Energy Engineering, or a related discipline. MBA is preferred.
Experience
• 6 to 12 years of experience in business development or sales within the solar, renewable energy, power, or EPC industry.
• Proven experience in Commercial and Industrial solar sales with a strong track record of achieving order booking and revenue targets.
