Business Development Executive – Retail Expansion 📍 Bangalore (Pan-India Travel Required) | Full-Time | 3–5 Years Experience
About the Role
We're a fast-growing sports footwear & apparel brand aggressively expanding our retail footprint across India. We're looking for a sharp, well-spoken Business Development Executive who understands the on-ground realities of retail expansion — from scouting locations to signing deals to launching stores under both COCO and FOFO models.
This is a high-ownership, high-visibility role for someone who thrives in the field, reads market data fluently, and knows what makes a store succeed before it even opens.
What You'll Do
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard new store locations across India (Tier 1, 2 & 3 cities)
- Drive end-to-end store expansion under COCO (Company Owned, Company Operated) and FOFO (Franchise Owned, Franchise Operated) models
- Conduct thorough catchment analysis, competitor mapping, and market feasibility studies
- Evaluate sites using key retail metrics — trading density, rent-to-sales ratio, footfall data, revenue potential
- Negotiate lease agreements and franchise terms with landlords and partners
- Work closely with retail operations, finance, and marketing teams for smooth store launches
- Build and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective franchise partners and real estate contacts
- Track and report on expansion KPIs, store ramp-up performance, and ROI
What We're Looking For
- 3–5 years of experience in retail expansion, business development, or franchise development
- Prior experience in sports, footwear, apparel, or lifestyle retail strongly preferred
- Deep understanding of retail KPIs — trading density, rent-to-sales ratio, shrinkage, conversion rate, ATV
- Hands-on experience with both COCO and FOFO expansion models
- Strong network of real estate brokers, mall developers, and franchise partners across India
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills — you're confident in a boardroom and on the ground
- Willingness to travel extensively across India
- Analytical mindset with the ability to back every site decision with data
