Role Overview
We are looking for a driven Business Development Associate who understands agri export markets and is ready to take ownership of international sales growth.
This is a high-responsibility role focused on building global buyer relationships, closing export deals, expanding product categories, and supporting the scale-up of TopCrop’s export business.
You will work directly with the founders and gradually take on leadership responsibilities as the function expands.
Key Responsibilities1. International Business Development
- Identify and onboard international buyers across essential oils, dehydrated fruits/vegetables, and spices
- Own the end-to-end sales cycle: prospecting → qualification → negotiation → deal closure
- Develop and execute market entry strategies for priority geographies
- Conduct virtual and in-person buyer meetings
- Build long-term partnerships with importers, distributors, private labels, and food manufacturers
2. Market & Category Expansion
- Develop product positioning, pitch materials, pricing strategy, and samples roadmap
- Track global demand trends, competitor movements, and regulatory requirements
- Support expansion into new product lines and export markets
3. Export Coordination & Execution
- Coordinate with procurement and quality teams to ensure export readiness
- Align forecasts with supply planning
- Work with operations for documentation, compliance, and shipment scheduling
4. Process & Team Development
- Support building structured sales processes and CRM systems
- Mentor interns and contribute to scaling the Business Development function
- Track and report key sales metrics and pipeline progress
Requirements
- 1+ years of experience preferred in agri exports, international trade, or B2B commodity sales
- Strong understanding of export workflows, pricing structures, buyer expectations, and certifications
- Experience in essential oils, dehydrated produce, or spices is a strong advantage
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
- High ownership mindset and comfort working in a growing startup environment
- Willingness to travel for trade fairs, buyer meetings, and supplier visits
Nice-to-Have
- Experience working with FPOs, agri processors, or export houses
- Exposure to EU, US, Middle East, or Australian food import regulations
- Existing buyer network in food & ingredients categories
