Business Analyst Role Definition

A Business Analyst (BA) supports business operations by analyzing data, validating system information, and ensuring operational processes run efficiently and accurately. The role works across business and system functions to maintain data integrity, support operational controls, and improve process performance.

Business Analysts provide daily operational support, including data validation, change processing, variance analysis, and system quality assurance. They also play a key role in supporting the month-end close process by performing reconciliations, reviewing data accuracy, validating transactions, and ensuring compliance with period-close controls across business units.

The role often supports enterprise applications such as Salesforce and Kantata while helping ensure system data is reliable for reporting and financial processes. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in Excel formulas are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze operational and business data to support decision-making
  • Perform data validation and variance analysis across systems
  • Support month-end close activities, including reconciliations and data verification
  • Process and validate system changes while maintaining data integrity
  • Monitor compliance with period-close operational controls
  • Support enterprise systems such as Salesforce and Kantata
  • Identify process improvements to increase efficiency and data quality

Required Skills And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in Business Analyst or related field.
  • Performs functional application configuration and configure /run reports at user request.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports using Excel, Power BI, or other reporting tools.
  • Monitor KPIs and provide performance analysis to stakeholders.
  • Support management with ad-hoc reports, data analysis, and presentations.
  • Maintain proper documentation of reports and reporting processes.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, formulas, dashboards).
