Job details:
About the role SarvaGram's Business Channel is the operational backbone of its lending business - the systems that power loan origination, underwriting, EMI management, delinquency handling, and collections for rural borrowers across India. These are complex, regulation-heavy systems where a missed requirement or an ambiguous user story can cause financial and compliance consequences that are difficult to unwind. The Business Channel BA exists to eliminate that ambiguity. Working across Vanguard (Lending Operations
- LMS, EMI, Collections) and Vertex (Underwriting
- LOS, Credit Decisioning, Farm Mechanisation), this role is the bridge between business stakeholders in Risk, Credit, and Collections and the engineering teams who build and maintain these systems. This is a demanding BA role - stakeholders use regulatory language, business rules are intricate, and the consequences of getting requirements wrong are real. The right candidate has lived inside an NBFC or bank long enough to understand why these systems are the way they are, and can translate that domain knowledge into precise, unambiguous requirements that senior engineers can implement without guessing. Key Responsibilities Requirements Discovery & BRD Writing for Lending Systems Conduct discovery sessions with Risk, Credit, Collections, and Compliance teams - translate regulatory language, credit policy rules, and operational process requirements into structured, testable BRDs Write BRDs and user stories for LMS enhancements, LOS changes, collections workflow modifications, and bureau integration updates - with acceptance criteria precise enough to eliminate ambiguity at the engineering level Use AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT) for first-draft BRD generation and documentation - speed matters when managing requirements across two complex squads simultaneously Maintain RBI compliance traceability in every BRD - every requirement that touches loan origination, credit decisioning, or collections must reference its regulatory basis Manage a structured requirements backlog for Vanguard and Vertex - prioritised, versioned, and traceable from business ask to delivered feature Lending Lifecycle & Process Mapping Map end-to-end lending workflows across Vanguard and Vertex - from lead generation through LOS, credit decision, disbursement, EMI management, delinquency escalation, and collections resolution. Document business rule logic for credit policy - scoring thresholds, loan eligibility criteria, bureau interpretation rules, and policy exceptions - in formats that Risk and Engineering can both work from Map collections escalation flows - delinquency bucket definitions, collection action sequences, BBPS and eNACH failure handling, and legal escalation triggers Identify process gaps and inconsistencies between how the business believes the system works and how it actually works - surfacing these as prioritised requirements before they become audit findings. Regulatory Requirements & Audit Readiness Translate RBI circulars, Fair Practices Code requirements, and internal compliance policies into concrete system requirements - the BA is the first line of translation between regulation and engineering Ensure every BRD touching credit decisions includes explainability requirements - reason codes, audit trails, and data retention specifications that satisfy RBI examination requirements Work with the CISO and Velox squad to ensure new features include security and data privacy requirements from the start
- PAN, Aadhaar, and bureau data handling specified in BRDs, not added post-development Support regulatory reporting requirement documentation - what data the system must capture, in what format, and with what retention period, for RBI and internal audit purposes Analytics & Data Requirements Define data requirements for the Analytics squad's EWS and credit scoring models - what loan performance signals, repayment behaviour data, and bureau attributes the Data Engineering team needs to build effective models Document requirements for collection strategy analytics - what propensity scores, delinquency predictions, and portfolio health metrics Operations needs, and how they should flow into collections workflows Work with the Lead Data Science to translate model outputs into operational requirements - how credit scores, EWS flags, and collection propensity scores should be consumed by LOS and LMS systems Stakeholder Management & Squad Support Act as the primary requirements interface for Risk, Credit, and Collections stakeholders - triage requests, validate feasibility with Engineering, and manage expectations on timelines and scope Support sprint ceremonies across Vanguard and Vertex - attend backlog refinement and sprint planning, clarify requirements on the spot, and ensure acceptance criteria are complete before development begins Facilitate UAT for lending system changes - coordinate test scenarios with Risk and Credit teams, document defects as requirement gaps, and manage sign-off before production release Requirements Professional Experience 3 to 6 years as a Business Analyst with at least 2 years of direct NBFC, bank, or lending fintech experience - candidates without this domain background will not have the vocabulary or judgment this role requires Demonstrable experience writing requirements for lending systems
- LOS, LMS, collections, or bureau integration; has worked with Risk, Credit, or Collections stakeholders and understands their regulatory obligations Experience with RBI-regulated processes - understands what audit readiness means in practice and has written requirements that had to satisfy regulatory scrutiny Comfortable with credit policy logic - can read a credit scorecard, understand bureau report interpretation rules, and translate policy intent into system requirements Active AI tool user - uses Claude or ChatGPT for documentation work today; not learning, already doing Mindset & Soft Skills Regulatory literacy: Regulatory literacy: reads RBI circulars and Fair Practices Code as primary sources - doesn't need translation from Compliance to understand what they require Domain authority: Domain authority: earns credibility with Risk and Credit stakeholders because you understand their world - not just their requirements Precision writer: Precision writer: acceptance criteria are specific, measurable, and unambiguous - vague requirements are a personal failure AI-native: AI-native documenter: uses Claude for BRD first drafts, process flow summaries, and regulatory cross-referencing as standard practice Audit mindset: Audit mindset: designs requirements with traceability from the start - knows that 'we'll add logging later' is never acceptable in a regulated lending system Technical Skills NBFC / Lending Domain
- Mandatory LOS process knowledge & LMS / EMI engine workflows Collections & delinquency management & Bureau integration (CIBIL/Equifax/CRIF) BBPS / eNACH processes & RBI regulatory knowledge Credit policy documentation & Fair Practices Code BA Fundamentals
- Core BRD writing & User story writing Acceptance criteria & Process flow mapping UAT coordination & Agile / sprint ceremonies Data requirements documentation AI & Analytics Claude / ChatGPT for BRD drafting & Basic SQL for data validation Product analytics interpretation & Requirements traceability Added advantage Agri / rural lending & Rule engine requirements (Drools) CERSAI documentation & Salesforce / CRM requirements Jira / Linear & Confluence Benefits SarvaGram is on a mission to revolutionize financial services for millions in rural India.
