About the Company
Techylla is looking for an exceptional Business Analyst who sits at the intersection of SAP functional expertise, data engineering fundamentals, and sharp business acumen. This is not a traditional BA role. We need someone who can bridge business requirements all the way to data pipeline specifications - speaking fluently with SAP consultants, Data Engineers, and business stakeholders alike.
About the Role
The ideal candidate combines SAP module knowledge (MM/SD/PP) with hands-on experience in SQL, ETL/ELT concepts, and data platform tools. You will own end-to-end data flows: from understanding how a business transaction lands in an SAP table, to validating that it surfaces correctly in a downstream data lake or BI dashboard.
Responsibilities
SAP Functional & Data Expertise
- SAP MM, SD, and PP modules.
- Familiarity/ functional knowledge of key SAP tables (e.g., MARA, EKKO, VBAK, MARC) and field-level details.
- Ability to navigate SAP transactions and perform table-level issue analysis and debugging.
- SAP data extraction methods: Understanding of BAPIs, IDocs, CDS Views, and ODP (Operational Data Provisioning).
- Experience mapping SAP data objects (master data and transactional data) to downstream reporting or data lake layers.
- SAP master data concepts: Familiarity with Material Master, Vendor Master, Customer Master — and how they flow into analytics layers.
- ECC and S/4HANA Awareness of SAP landscape differences.
Data Engineering Fundamentals (Preferred, Core Differentiator)
- ETL/ELT pipeline architecture: Strong conceptual and working knowledge of reading, reviewing, and validating data transformation logic - not necessarily build from scratch.
- Understanding of data flow from source (SAP) through ingestion, transformation, and serving layers.
- Data modelling proficiency: Star schema, snowflake schema, dimensions vs. facts
- Ability to translate SAP data structures into data warehouse models.
- Cloud-based data platforms: Familiarity with Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 (ADLS) — Storage Accounts, Containers, and access patterns.
- Conceptual understanding of Azure Data Factory (ADF), Databricks, or Apache Spark-based processing.
- Python scripting basics: Ability to write scripts for data validation, reconciliation, or lightweight automation.
- Not a full developer role but comfort reading and modifying Python code is expected.
SQL & Data Analysis
- SQL: Advanced proficiency in Writing complex queries against SAP tables, data warehouses, and data lake layers.
- Data exploration, profiling, and validation through SQL.
- Reconciliation queries to compare SAP source data with downstream BI or reporting outputs.
Agile & Delivery Methodology
- Scrum methodology: Strong hands-on knowledge of Daily stand-up, sprint planning, retrospectives, and backlog grooming.
- Writing well-defined user stories with clear acceptance criteria.
- Estimating story points and tracking sprint velocity.
- JIRA and Confluence Proficiency with SQA adherence for all sprint deliverables.
Data Quality & Validation
- UAT data validation: Ownership of Validate data accuracy between SAP source systems and target data platforms (Data Lake / DWH).
- Define and execute data quality test cases as part of sprint deliverables.
- Identify, document, and track data discrepancies through to resolution.
- Reconciliation of SAP reports vs. BI / analytics outputs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Informatics, MCA, MBA, or equivalent.
- Multi-site global teams across time zones.
- BI and data visualization tools: Familiarity with Power BI, Tableau, or Looker — specifically translating SAP data fields and business logic into report/dashboard requirements
- S/4HANA environments Experience in (PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent) are a plus Project Management certifications.
Role & Responsibilities
- Act as the primary bridge between business stakeholders, SAP consultants, and Data Engineering teams — translating business needs into functional specifications and data pipeline requirements.
- Own end-to-end data flow documentation: from SAP source tables through extraction, transformation, and presentation in BI layers.
- Lead data validation and reconciliation efforts — define test cases, execute UAT, and sign off on data quality across sprints.
- Collaborate with Product Owners, Business SMEs, and Scrum Masters to define requirements, write user stories, and deliver sprint artifacts.
- Participate actively in Scrum ceremonies and take end-to-end accountability for sprint deliverables.
- Map SAP data fields (master data and transactional) to downstream reporting models, identifying transformation logic and business rules.
- Engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders — facilitating workshops, requirement sessions, and status reviews.
- Monitor project metrics and delivery health; flag risks proactively with mitigation paths
- Ensure adherence to SQA guidelines, documentation standards, and data governance policies.
- Support BI/reporting teams in defining KPIs, interpreting SAP data, and validating dashboard outputs.
