Job Description
The Business Analyst – Strategic Intelligence plays a critical role in translating business, customer, and product needs into clear, actionable requirements that drive the evolution of Norstella’s Strategic Intelligence software and data products.
This role sits at the intersection of product management, engineering, data, and commercial stakeholders. The Business Analyst will support feature development, data enhancements, and workflow improvements across Evaluate Pharma, Omnium, Biomedtracker, and Datamonitor Healthcare by combining strong analytical skills, structured requirements definition, and hands-on data exploration.
The ideal candidate brings experience working with data-driven SaaS products, is comfortable querying datasets using SQL, and is experienced working in Agile environments using Jira.
Responsibilities
Business & Product Analysis
- Partner with Product Managers and stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document business, functional, and data requirements for Strategic Intelligence products.
- Translate complex business questions related to pharma pipelines, competitive intelligence, forecasting, and market dynamics into clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional specifications.
- Support roadmap execution by refining requirements that balance customer value, technical feasibility, and data integrity.
Data Analysis & Validation
- Use SQL to explore, validate, and analyze underlying datasets to:
- Support requirement definition
- Validate business rules and assumptions
- Assist with data quality checks and issue investigation
- Collaborate with Data Engineering and QA teams to ensure accurate implementation of business logic across product features and data outputs.
- Participate in UAT and release validation, ensuring delivered functionality meets defined requirements and expected behaviors.
Agile Delivery & Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Engineering, QA, Data, and UX teams throughout the Agile development lifecycle.
- Create and manage user stories, tasks, and defects in Jira, ensuring clarity, prioritization, and traceability.
- Act as a bridge between technical and non‑technical stakeholders, resolving questions related to data definitions, logic, and workflows during development.
Stakeholder & Customer Support
- Support internal teams (Product, Sales, Customer Success, Research) by providing product and data clarity related to Strategic Intelligence offerings.
- Contribute to customer-facing discussions as needed by explaining product logic, data coverage, and analytical outputs in a clear and structured manner.
- Document processes, data definitions, and feature behavior to support internal enablement and long-term scalability.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Analytics, Engineering, Computer Science, Life Sciences, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Product Analyst, or similar role supporting data‑driven software products.
- Strong hands-on experience with SQL for querying relational databases and validating data.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments, with practical use of Jira for backlog management, user stories, and delivery tracking.
- Ability to translate complex data and domain concepts into clear, structured requirements and documentation.
- Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience working across global teams.
Qualifications
- Experience supporting pharmaceutical, life sciences, healthcare, or financial intelligence products.
- Familiarity with drug development, competitive intelligence, forecasting, or market access concepts.
- Exposure to SaaS analytics platforms, dashboards, or data delivery products.
- Experience collaborating with distributed engineering and product teams.
- Working knowledge of data visualization or reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.
