About The Role
The position of Business Analyst (AVP level) within the Trade Operations team is pivotal to enhancing process efficiencies and ensuring seamless trade transactions. The role involves acting as a bridge between business users, IT teams, compliance, and risk SMEs to facilitate clear communication and effective solution implementation. The Business Analyst will be responsible for translating business requirements into technical solutions, documenting processes, and supporting the deployment of trade-related systems and workflows.
This role requires a proactive approach to process improvement, documentation, and stakeholder coordination. The AVP will support requirement gathering, gap analysis, and system testing activities, including preparing Business Requirement Documents (BRD), test cases, and facilitating User Acceptance Testing (UAT). The candidate will also be involved in training end-users, supporting system effectiveness studies, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The role demands a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders effectively across geographies.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in back-office trade operations within financial institutions, particularly in export documentary letters of credit, export collections, export loans, guarantees, and related trade finance products. They should possess a deep understanding of trade workflows, documentation, and settlement processes, with proven expertise in requirements gathering, process documentation, and risk mitigation. Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess at least 11+ years of experience in back-office trade operations within a financial institution. This includes hands-on experience with export documentary L/C, export collections, export loans, shipping guarantees, reimbursement authorizations, and other trade finance products. Proven expertise in requirements gathering, process documentation, and stakeholder coordination across business, IT, and vendors is essential.
Candidates should have a comprehensive understanding of trade workflows, including transaction processing, documentation, compliance, and settlement. Experience in managing project risks, issues, and implementing effective solutions is critical. A strong background in preparing BRDs, manuals, and conducting gap analysis is required. Additionally, familiarity with supply chain finance, open account transactions, and forfaiting will be advantageous.
Educational qualifications should include a relevant degree in finance, business administration, or related fields. Professional certifications related to business analysis or trade finance are a plus. The candidate must demonstrate excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to work collaboratively in a global environment.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate requirements with business users and IT teams, supporting clarification, impact analysis, and documentation to ensure alignment and clarity.
- Conduct tasks as a Business Analyst based on guidance from SMEs and the BA Lead, including facilitating system design, workflow analysis, and process improvements.
- Gather user and business requirements, perform gap analysis, and document processes through BRDs and manuals.
- Design and implement new work procedures or workarounds to optimize trade operations.
- Provide training and support to local and international users to ensure effective adoption of new systems and processes.
- Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities, ensuring that system functionalities meet business needs.
- Conduct system effectiveness studies and recommend enhancements for operational efficiency.
- Prepare, review, and update project deliverables, including BRDs, manuals, and other documentation.
- Identify project risks, impacts, and issues; develop contingency plans and propose mitigation strategies.
- Promote knowledge sharing within the team and facilitate end-user training and support activities.
