About The Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Business Analyst (GIS) to join our Jio GIS department in Mumbai. This role is pivotal in bridging the gap between our business stakeholders and technical development teams, ensuring that GIS-related projects align with business objectives and technical feasibility. The Business Analyst (GIS) will be responsible for gathering detailed requirements, analyzing existing processes, and facilitating the delivery of high-quality GIS solutions that enhance spatial data management, mapping, and location-based services. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of Geospatial Information Systems, mapping technologies, and spatial data management, enabling them to translate complex spatial concepts into actionable development tasks and ensure the successful implementation of GIS projects.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess a B.E or B.Tech degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. A minimum of five years of experience as a Business Analyst working specifically with GIS projects within a software development environment is essential. The candidate should demonstrate strong proficiency in creating technical specifications, user stories, and process documentation. Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies is required to effectively participate in iterative project cycles. Additionally, proficiency in SQL and data visualization tools such as Tableau, PowerBI, or Excel is necessary for data analysis and reporting. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are vital for explaining technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and ensuring clear understanding across teams.
Responsibilities
- Requirements Gathering & Analysis (GIS): Collaborate with stakeholders to identify business needs, translate them into detailed technical requirements, including user stories, product requirement documents (PRDs), and business requirement documents (BRDs). Conduct gap analysis to identify opportunities for process improvements within existing GIS workflows. Create detailed process maps, wireframes, and workflow diagrams to visualize solutions.
- GIS & Technical Coordination: Serve as the primary liaison between business units and GIS development teams. Translate complex spatial and mapping concepts into clear, actionable development tasks for engineers. Assist in defining requirements for map visualizations, spatial databases, and location-based services to ensure technical solutions meet business needs.
- Project Execution & Testing: Participate actively in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives. Coordinate and execute User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to verify that GIS solutions meet business criteria, with particular emphasis on spatial accuracy and map functionality. Maintain comprehensive documentation of system updates, new features, and project deliverables to ensure ongoing clarity and knowledge sharing.
