About The Role
The Associate Vice President (AVP) - Business Analyst will play a pivotal role within the Trade Operations team, focusing on process improvement, documentation, and cross-functional coordination. This role serves as a critical link between business users, IT teams, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless and compliant trade operations. The AVP will be responsible for translating business requirements into technical solutions by collaborating with various teams including IT, Product Owners, Compliance, and Risk SMEs. The role also involves executing tasks such as preparing Business Requirement Documents (BRD), supporting User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and maintaining process documentation. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in trade finance operations within financial institutions and demonstrate strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of 11+ years of experience in back-office operations within the trade finance domain of a financial institution. Proven expertise in handling Export Documentary Letters of Credit (L/C), Export Collections, Export Loans, Shipping Guarantees, Reimbursement Authorizations, and related trade processes is essential. Candidates should have a strong background in requirements gathering, process documentation—including the creation, review, and maintenance of BRDs and manuals—and effective stakeholder coordination involving business teams, IT, and external vendors. Experience in managing project risks, implementing mitigation strategies, and ensuring compliance within trade operations is also required. Additionally, familiarity with transaction processing, documentation, settlement, and compliance in areas such as Guarantee, Supply Chain Finance, and Open Account Transactions will be highly valued. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams are critical attributes for success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate with business users and IT teams to gather, clarify, and document requirements, ensuring alignment with operational goals and compliance standards.
- Conduct detailed gap analysis to identify process inefficiencies and recommend improvements or new procedures.
- Design system functionalities and workflows in collaboration with technical teams, ensuring solutions meet business needs.
- Prepare comprehensive Business Requirement Documents (BRDs), test cases, and support documentation for system implementations.
- Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT), providing support to end-users and ensuring system functionality aligns with requirements.
- Facilitate training sessions for local and overseas users to promote understanding and effective utilization of new systems or processes.
- Assist in the creation and review of operation manuals, process flowcharts, and other documentation to ensure clarity and accuracy.
- Identify potential project risks and issues, develop contingency plans, and communicate impacts to stakeholders effectively.
- Promote standardization and knowledge sharing within the team to enhance operational efficiency and consistency.
- Support end-user adoption activities and provide ongoing support to resolve operational issues promptly.
