Mandatory Skills : underwriting, reinsurance, treaty, power bi
Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Business Analyst (BA) with strong Reinsurance, specifically Property & Casualty (P\&C) domain expertise to work closely with underwriting, finance, and claims stakeholders. The role focuses on understanding business pain points, translating them into analytics and reporting requirements, and supporting the development of Power BI–based dashboards and analytical insights as part of a pilot modernization initiative.
This role requires strong business-facing capabilities, hands-on data understanding, and the ability to bridge business needs with technical teams in a traditional, on‑premise insurance environment.
Key Responsibilities
Business Engagement & Requirement Discovery
Work closely with underwriting, finance, and claims teams to understand current reporting challenges, manual processes, and decision‑making gaps across P\&C insurance lines (personal, commercial, or specialty).
Conduct requirement workshops and one‑on‑one discussions with business users to identify priority use cases for analytics and reporting.
Act as the primary business interface between stakeholders and technical (BI / data) teams, ensuring clear communication and alignment.
Analytics & Reporting Enablement
Translate business requirements into functional specifications, KPIs, metrics, and dashboard requirements aligned to P\&C insurance portfolios (e.g., premium, loss, exposure, claims, profitability).
Support the identification of predictive and analytical use cases (e.g., risk insights, loss ratios, portfolio performance, revenue indicators) based on available data.
Collaborate with BI developers to validate dashboards, ensure business relevance, and drive adoption by end users.
Data Understanding & Validation
Analyze data sourced directly from P\&C core insurance systems (policy, billing, claims) with no existing data warehouse / ODS, and support data validation with business users.
Help define logical data views and business definitions (e.g., policy, coverage, claim, loss, exposure) to enable consistent reporting and self‑service analytics where feasible.
Identify data quality issues and work with technical teams to prioritize remediation.
Pilot Execution & Value Demonstration
Support the execution of a pilot engagement by ensuring early delivery of high‑impact dashboards and insights for P\&C underwriting, claims, and finance stakeholders.
Contribute to recommendations and a future analytics roadmap based on pilot outcomes.
Required Skills & Experience
Domain Expertise
Strong experience in Property & Casualty (P\&C) Insurance or Reinsurance, preferably covering underwriting, reinsurance treaties, exposure management, claims, or finance reporting.
Hands‑on understanding of P\&C insurance concepts such as policy lifecycle, premiums, claims, loss ratios, reserves, exposure, and renewals.
Ability to speak the business language of insurance and translate it into analytical requirements.
Data & BI Knowledge
Good understanding of Power BI (dashboard concepts, KPIs, filters, user interaction) or similar BI tools like Cognos.
Comfort working with raw, structured data from P\&C core insurance systems in on‑prem environments.
Communication & Collaboration
Excellent communication skills with senior business stakeholders across underwriting, claims, and finance.
Ability to work with onsite and offshore teams, with at least one strong onsite business‑facing presence.
