The Resident Representative is responsible for on-site administrative and construction observation services on behalf of the client for all project field-related activities. This includes coordinating, reviewing, and verifying that products, installations, schedules, applications, and work provided by the contractor all verify to the engineering drawings and specifications. The Resident Representative regularly communicates with the engineering team, the contractor, owner, client, and other parties to coordinate the contractor's schedule, progress, work and deliverables.
- Monitor subcontractor activities to verify that installations are in conformance with the contractual and or design documents. This includes observations of the materials, work in progress, and finished installations.
- Communicate and interface with Engineering Manager and discipline engineers to resolve field engineering items and contractor non-conformance.
- Develop and distribute project status reports through detailed daily project logs and frequent, regular project site photographs documenting work as it progresses.
- Facilitate regular communication with engineering, the owner, client, contractor and other stakeholders to improve project communication and performance.
- Lead and oversee field meetings, including safety, coordination and project schedule meetings.
- Interface with client representatives, municipal authorities and other contractors as necessary to execute projects.
- Collaborate with the project management team to implement project execution plans, project procedures, working documents, site procedures and project standards.
- Responsible for ensuring contractual compliance with contracted and subcontracted parties on designated construction-related activities.
- Review delivered materials and verify conformance with approved drawings and submittals. Review and verify subcontractor progress payments and supplier invoices.
- Provide technical assistance, interpretation of drawings, and recommendation of construction methods and equipment installation.
- Develop and foster effective client and subcontractor relationships.
- Responsible for QA/QC process adherence.
- Adhere to and ensure compliance with Burns & McDonnell's safety programs, training, and policies, as well as collaborate with the project teams to manage the Safety & Health performance of the project/program team members and others as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
- High School Diploma/GED and 8 years construction management experience or craft supervision experience on engineering or construction projects required.
- Experience as a lead construction project inspector preferred.
- Knowledge of engineering plans, drawings, specifications, construction permitting, construction standards, means, and methods.
- Experience with surveying and materials testing preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
- Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients.
- Broad exposure and experience communicating with engineers, owners, clients, and contractors, including coordination and communication with regulatory and jurisdictional agencies, preferred.
- Proficiency in computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience in document control software and project management systems is preferred.
- Must be able to meet company's driving requirements.
- Must be willing to work the majority of time in the field.
- Valid driver's license required.
