About the role
Carpenter II constructs, installs, and repairs structures and fixtures using materials like wood, steel, and concrete on industrial projects.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and drawings
- Design, build, remodel, retrofit, maintain and repair various types of facilities and structures
- Must have your own hand tools for use
- Form sidewalks, pads, grade beams, and other ground level structures
- Safely strip wall form systems
- Safely build wall form and deck form systems
- Use levels, rules, plumb bobs, framing squares, and surveying equipment to ensure everything is level and secure
- Prepares the layout of the project
- Estimates height, width, length, and other proportions and selects and purchases materials
- Spotting on all activities
- Elevated work under 6ft or 6ft and higher
- Interpret drawings
- Layout for foundations
- Hand dig excavations and trenching by hand
- Formwork setup
- Install/pre tie rebar, sleeves or embedded plates
- Anchor bolt template placement and install anchor bolts
- Pour and finish concrete
- Strip forms
- Cut concrete for expansion joints
- Dry pack/rub and patch concrete
- Backfill and compact around foundations
- Pour a flowable fill
- Demo Concrete
- Build and install shoring, build pads/dirt work
- Installing RCP Pipe/Precast Manholes
- Install bedding material for Precast Structures
- Pour concrete for duct banks
- Bushing concrete and concrete piers
- Performing other duties as assigned
- Complies with all policies and standards
REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience
- Must be able to assess through Burns and McDonnell assessment program
PHYSICAL DEMANDS - Ability to stand, walk, sit, or reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, crawl, push and pull
- Ability to use repetitive hand motions and the ability to grasp and operate field tools and equipment
- Ability to climb on, in or through equipment in confined spaces and elevated work using fall protection harnesses
- Ability to work long hours with infrequent days off, night shifts, and in adverse climates
- Ability to use respirators or Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus
- Ability to utilize vision abilities including close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
- Ability to lift, carry and or move up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work in an environment with loud noises and vibrations for extended periods of time
- Ability to properly wear and/or use Personal Protection Equipment
