Job Summary
The Budgeting & Scheduling Engineer is responsible for preparing project budgets, cost estimates, and detailed construction schedules. This role ensures projects are completed within financial constraints and timelines by closely monitoring progress, forecasting costs, and coordinating with project teams.
Key Responsibilities
Budgeting and cost control
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and project budgets based on drawings, specifications, and scope of work
- Analyze material, labor, and equipment costs
- Monitor project expenditures and track deviations from the approved budget
- Prepare cost reports, forecasts, and variance analysis
- Assist in tendering, bid evaluation, and contract negotiations
scheduling and Planning
- Develop detailed project schedules using tools like Primavera P6 / MS Project
- Define project milestones, deliverables, and critical paths
- Monitor project progress and update schedules regularly
- Identify delays, risks, and recommend corrective actions
- Coordinate with site teams to ensure adherence to timelines
Project Coordination
- Collaborate with engineers, contractors, and stakeholders for planning inputs
- Ensure alignment between budgeting and scheduling activities
- Support project execution by providing data-driven insights
Reporting and documentation
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports
- Maintain proper documentation of budgets, schedules, and revisions
- Present project status updates to management
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
- 10+ years of experience in construction planning, budgeting, or project control
- Strong knowledge of construction methods and materials
- Proficiency in Primavera P6, MS Project, and Excel
- Understanding of BOQs, rate analysis, and cost estimation
