Pipe Layer / Equipment Operator – Install Critical Utility Systems and Operate Heavy Machinery

Job Overview:

• Company: TJS Excavation LLC.

• Salary/Pay Rate: $23 to $25 per hour plus Year-End Bonus.

• Location: Site-specific jobsites.

• Job/Employment Type: Full Time.

• Schedule: Monday – Friday, Weekends, and Overtime.

• Project Scope: Residential, Commercial, Industrial, and Government/Federal.

• Mandatory Licenses & Certifications: Valid Driver's License.

The Opportunity

You will be a key player in our field operations, combining technical pipe-laying expertise with heavy equipment operation to build essential infrastructure. This role offers the opportunity to work on diverse projects across the region while utilizing state-of-the-art machinery in a safety-first environment.

How You Will Make an Impact

• Install underground utility piping, including water, sewer, and storm drain systems, to exact project specifications.

• Interpret blueprints, grade stakes, and site plans to ensure precise pipe placement and alignment.

• Execute trenching and grading operations while maintaining the proper line and grade for long-term structural integrity.

• Operate heavy equipment, such as excavators, loaders, and skid steers, to facilitate efficient site production.

• Perform backfilling and compaction tasks to ensure stable and secure utility installations.

• Adhere to strict trench safety practices and OSHA regulations to maintain a zero-incident job site.

• Collaborate with supervisors and crew members to solve site-specific challenges and meet production milestones.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a pipe layer within the construction or excavation industry.

• Hands-on experience operating heavy equipment, with a strong preference for excavator proficiency.

• Solid understanding of underground utility installation techniques and modern trench safety practices.

• Demonstrated ability to read grade and work accurately from engineering plans and site layouts.

• Physical ability to work in varying outdoor conditions and perform demanding manual tasks daily.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

• Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is a significant plus.

• Experience with laser levels and other grade-checking instruments for high-precision work.

• Prior experience in diverse project environments, including industrial or government contract sites.

• Strong interest in long-term career development and mentorship within the excavation field.
