Sr. Material Group Manager, Metals – North America
New Bern, NC / Full-time
Your responsibilities
The Senior Material Group Manager – Metal North America is responsible for developing and executing the regional material group strategy for metal commodities, ensuring competitive cost structures, supply security, and strong supplier performance across North American operations. This role leads negotiations, sourcing decisions, and supplier governance while serving as the key interface between regional plants, Material Field Experts, and global Material/ Sub-Material Working Groups (MWGs/SMWGs).
The position drives cost performance against MPC and MCC targets, introduces new capable suppliers, and ensures robust contract and supplier relationship management aligned with global procurement strategies.
Strategic Sourcing & Cost Management
· Lead commercial negotiations for metal commodities to achieve target costs and annual savings objectives.
· Develop, align, and implement the North America material group strategy in coordination with global MWGs and SMWGs.
· Drive initiatives to meet and exceed MPC and MCC targets for assigned commodities.
· Conduct market scouting and in-depth market analysis to identify new sources, technologies, and cost levers.
· Lead RFQs, supplier selection, and sourcing decisions based on total cost of ownership and risk assessment.
· Ensure best cost country sourcing and localization strategies where applicable.
Supplier Management & Governance
· Take ownership of key supplier accounts as Material Group Manager Key Account and/or BSH Single Point of Contact (SPOC).
· Build and maintain strong supplier relationships focused on cost, quality, delivery, and innovation.
· Introduce and onboard new suppliers aligned with strategic needs and risk mitigation plans.
· Lead supplier performance reviews and governance routines across North American operations.
· Ensure effective contract management and compliance with framework agreements and commercial terms.
Tactical Purchasing & Continuous Improvement
· Oversee execution of RFQs and sourcing pipelines to ensure transparency and competitiveness.
· Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to cost modeling, supplier base optimization, and risk mitigation.
· Monitor raw material trends and market dynamics affecting metal commodities and initiate proactive actions.
· Ensure documentation, contract lifecycle management, and procurement tool utilization are up to standard.
Carries out other related duties and responsibilities as required.
Your profile
· Bachelor’s degree (Engineering or Business administration) – Required
· 7-10 Years of Experience (7 to 10 years of engineering on purchasing, material group management, contract management) – Required
· Strong experience in negotiation, cost breakdown analysis, and strategic sourcing.
· Proven ability to develop and implement material group strategies in a global matrix organization.
· Experience managing key supplier accounts and complex commercial relationships.
· Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence stakeholders without direct authority.
· Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
· Familiarity with ERP systems and procurement tools (SAP preferred)
· Capability to generate forecast premises
· Risk analysis and management for related supplier portfolio (financial and operational)
· Travel Percentage – 30%
Your Pay & Benefits
The pay range posted for this position is based on the location noted in the posting title. Exact compensation offered may vary based on your specific skillset and work location. If the position is bonus or incentive eligible then the payments range from 0% to 200% of target with details laid out within the plan document.

· Unlimited paid vacation for all Director and above level positions.
· The greater of (a) 40 hours of paid sick leave or (b) state or local minimum requirements for paid leave (Non-Production Line).
· 40 hours of paid personal leave (Production Line).
· 12 days of paid holidays per year (max 8 hours paid per day).
