Description

Brown Distributing Company (BDC) is a family-owned beverage distributor serving the Central Texas market since 1962. We distribute a wide range of quality beverage products while upholding the highest standards of service and salesmanship at all times.

 

This is a hands-on position working in our Austin office.  Remote work is not available for this position. This is a Monday-Friday, 8:00AM-5:00PM role. Occasional after-hours or on-call support may be required at times.

 

The Systems & Network Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and support of BDC’s IT infrastructure, including network systems, servers, storage, and security platforms. This role serves as the primary escalation point for infrastructure-related issues and is expected to independently troubleshoot and resolve problems to maintain system reliability and uptime.

Requirements

·         3-6+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, systems administration, and/or network administration

·         Bachelor’s degree in computer science (or related), or equivalent work experience

·         Industry certifications (preferred)

·         Strong troubleshooting skills across systems, network, and user-facing issues

·         Working, demonstrated experience managing:

o   Enterprise network and firewall platforms (Fortigate)

o   Windows Server environments and Active Directory

·         Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and under pressure

Summary

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

The following duties and responsibilities are representative of those required by this position and are not meant to be all inclusive:

  •            Manage and support network infrastructure, including switches, firewalls, and wireless access points
  •          Monitor network performance to ensure secure and reliable connectivity
  •          Administer and maintain Windows servers, virtual environments, and storage systems
  •         Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity
  •          Support endpoint protection platforms and system security controls
  •          Oversee patch management and vulnerability remediation
  •          Administer and support backup systems
  •          Provide end-user support for company devices: Windows Laptops, iPhones, iPads, etc.
  •          Assist with infrastructure-related projects, upgrades, and deployments
  •          Provide technical input on hardware and software purchases
