POSITION STATEMENT:
The EHS & Security Support Technician supports daily Environmental Health & Safety and Security operations by performing routine patrols, mail services, errands, and facility support tasks. This role maintains a visible security presence, assists with administrative and clerical duties, and contributes to a safe, secure, and efficient work environment across the campus.
Essential Duties:
Primary Security Responsibilities
- Conduct routine interior and exterior security patrols to observe, identify, report, and help deter unsafe, suspicious, or unsecured conditions.
- Maintain a visible and professional security presence across the campus.
- Perform door checks, security equipment checks, and safety inspections during assigned rounds.
- Provide break and lunch relief for security officers, including patrol and post coverage as assigned.
- Monitor surveillance systems and report irregularities, safety hazards, or security concerns in accordance with established procedures.
- Serve as a first responder to minor incidents within training and authorization limits, escalating incidents to appropriate personnel when necessary.
- Support daily security operations, including patrol relief, access monitoring, and security coverage during peak or special activity periods.
- Assist with special events by providing security presence, crowd monitoring, and safety support during setup, execution, and breakdown.
Secondary Administrative and Operational Support
- Support Security and EHS teams with routine administrative and operational tasks as assigned.
- Pick up, transport, sort, and distribute U.S. postal mail and intercompany mail while maintaining security awareness on scheduled routes.
- Operate automated postage and mail-processing equipment as required.
- Perform clerical duties such as filing, scanning, copying, and shredding to support departmental operations.
- Ensure assigned company vehicles are clean, fueled, and operational prior to use.
- Build and maintain cooperative working relationships with employees, contractors, and visitors across all departments.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned to support security, safety, and EHS objectives.
Education/Experience:
- Valid California driver’s license
- Clean driving record
- Demonstrated knowledge of safe driving practices and traffic laws
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Working knowledge of basic security principles, patrol practices, and situational awareness
- Understanding of the three pillars of security: physical, technical, and administrative
- Strong observation, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills within job scope
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Professional demeanor with strong customer service and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and time‑management abilities with attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize security‑related tasks while managing routine administrative duties
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately
- Ability to interact effectively with employees, visitors, and external contacts
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Frequent walking, standing, and sitting
- Driving for extended periods, including to unfamiliar locations
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Ability to ascend and descent stairs, steps or ladders using 3 point contact
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Indoor and outdoor work environments
- Exposure to varying weather conditions
- Generally low to moderate noise levels
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:
- Safety vest and appropriate footwear when working in production or warehouse areas
