As we continue to expand and innovate, we are seeking an Internal Communications & Enablement Director to join our team. This leader will connect people, purpose, and performance across Cox Farms—driving the strategy and execution of internal communications, culture storytelling, and employee enablement initiatives that inform, inspire, and engage employees at every level.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Chief People Officer, this Director will lead a small, high-impact team (1–2 direct reports) responsible for internal communications, employee engagement, and enablement programs. The Chief People Officer will define the overarching direction and alignment of the communications strategy, while this Director will own the definition, execution, and continuous evolution of it—operating within strategic guardrails to shape how we communicate, connect, and empower our teams.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Alignment

  • Translate business and people strategies into clear, actionable internal communication and enablement plans
  • Partner with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and HR to ensure messaging aligns with organizational priorities and reinforces our culture
  • Develop and maintain a unified internal communications roadmap that supports business growth, transformation, and integration
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders on messaging, tone, and communication effectiveness

Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Lead and develop a small, agile team focused on internal communications and enablement (1–2 direct reports)
  • Create clarity around team priorities, workflows, and deliverables to ensure alignment and impact
  • Foster a collaborative, creative, and high-accountability team culture with strong partnership across HR, operations, and corporate functions 

Internal Communications & Storytelling

  • Design and execute communication strategies that build clarity, consistency, and connection across all levels of the organization
  • Create and manage executive communications, manager toolkits, and employee storytelling campaigns
  • Oversee communication channels (town halls, newsletters, intranet, chat platforms, and digital signage), ensuring consistent tone, brand, and reach
  • Drive creative approaches to sharing employee stories, celebrating wins, and reinforcing culture

Change & Enablement

  • Partner with leaders to communicate organizational transformation, integration, and key change initiatives with transparency and empathy
  • Develop enablement materials — including manager guides, talking points, and onboarding communications — that help leaders and teams act as communicators
  • Apply structured change management frameworks to guide communication, readiness, and adoption across enterprise initiatives

Culture Activation & Engagement

  • Build and deliver engagement and recognition campaigns that highlight employee achievements and foster pride and belonging
  • Partner with HR and business leaders to ensure the Cox Farms culture is reflected consistently across teams and geographies
  • Utilize feedback loops (surveys, listening sessions, and engagement metrics) to inform continuous improvement in communication and culture programs 

Governance, Measurement & Continuous Improvement

  • Establish and uphold standards for internal communications — including tone, design, accessibility, and brand alignment
  • Define and monitor KPIs to measure communication reach, engagement, and effectiveness
  • Partner with HR Analytics and PMO to connect communication metrics to business outcomes
  • Lead efforts to scale communication and enablement tools and systems as the organization grows

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Organizational Development, Business, or related field
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in internal communications, employee engagement, or change management
  • Proven experience leading communication or enablement efforts in complex, fast-growing, or matrixed organizations
  • Exceptional writing, storytelling, and executive communication skills
  • Experience managing or mentoring small teams, with a demonstrated ability to scale programs and structure as the organization grows
  • Prior experience collaborating with enterprise-level teams (e.g., Cox Enterprises or similar corporate functions) preferred
  • Change management certification (e.g., Prosci, ACMP) a plus
