About the role

Job Description

This role will be paid in GBP with a normal range of £40-50 GBP per hour

FDM.UK is seeking a skilled WordPress Developer to support the ongoing development and maintenance of nine key client-facing portals built entirely in WordPress. These portals serve as critical infrastructure where clients log in to access slidepacks and other important resources. This is a long-term, high-ownership role where reliability and quality are essential. While the role starts at 20 hours per week, there is flexibility for a full-time arrangement for the right candidate. We're looking for candidates based in the UK, with a preference for London as FDM.UK has an office there.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain WordPress websites with high availability and stability.
  • Manage the upkeep and functionality of 9 portals critical to client operations.
  • Ensure a seamless user experience for client logins and content downloads (e.g., slidepacks).
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to plan and implement website improvements.
  • Implement WordPress best practices, including theme and plugin development/customization.
  • Provide rapid troubleshooting and resolution for any technical issues that arise.
  • Deliver projects on-time, within agreed scopes, and aligned with business goals.
  • Support future scaling, enhancements, and performance optimization of the portals.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in developing and maintaining high-traffic WordPress websites.
  • Proficiency in WordPress, PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and related web technologies.
  • Experience with WordPress security, user management, and content delivery workflows.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to building reliable, fail-safe systems.
  • Ability to manage tasks independently and communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders.
  • Based in the UK preferred, with London-based candidates strongly favored as you will travel to London from time-to-time for office visits.
  • Availability to start within 2–3 weeks.
  • Interest in a long-term contract (6+ months).
