About the role

For over two decades, BrainPOP has been trusted by educators and parents worldwide as a source of engaging and impactful learning experiences for all kids. With a presence in over two-thirds of U.S. districts through school and district subscriptions and an estimated annual reach of 25 million students, BrainPOP is empowering kids to take agency over their learning and excel in and out of the classroom.

The company was acquired in 2022 by KIRKBI, the family-owned holding and investment company of the LEGO brand, marking a significant milestone as their first acquisition in the digital learning realm. We are thrilled to continue making learning fun and accessible with the strategic guidance and support of KIRKBI.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the CFO, the Sr. Director will lead and scale a high-performing FP&A team to design and implement best-in-class financial and operational analysis, reporting, and transparency. This role is crucial for delivering strategic guidance to senior management, preparing essential board presentations, and ensuring the Finance organization serves as the analytical core for BrainPOP’s growth and operational efficiency.

This leader will define the vision and strategy for the FP&A function, transforming raw data into actionable, high-impact insights that guide executive decision-making and support a balanced model of high growth and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a bias for action and a demonstrated track record of scaling an FP&A function within a dynamic, high-growth environment (preferably SaaS/Technology). This role requires a proactive "player-coach" who is ready to dive into the details while concurrently building, mentoring, and scaling a high-performing finance team.

Eastern time zone preferred.

  • Business Partnering: Establish deep, collaborative relationships across all functional areas (e.g., Sales, Marketing, Product) to embed finance into strategic planning and drive optimal business outcomes.
  • Lead Strategic Analysis: Provide proactive, thought-leading analysis on business trends, assessing current and future risks and opportunities to ensure the company remains on track to achieve its long-term goals.  Support pricing strategy and deal desk efforts to ensure effective pricing protects both our margin while driving growth.

II. Financial Planning & Execution

  • Own Planning Cycles: Direct the entire annual budgeting, long-range planning, and continuous forecasting processes, collaborating closely with budget owners to ensure efficient, accurate, and reliable financial models.
  • Drive Process Improvement: Lead the journey in creating a "best-in-class" finance structure. Identify and implement system and process enhancements, leveraging technology to streamline financial processes and create capacity for high-value strategic analysis.
  • Operational Reporting: Oversee the team responsible for the timely and accurate delivery of monthly/quarterly financial and operational reporting packages, distilling key performance indicators and variances.

III. Team Leadership & Development

  • Mentor and Scale: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of Finance professionals, fostering a culture of ownership, accuracy, and continuous improvement.

You Are

  • Accountable: Unwavering commitment to accuracy and reliability in all financial outputs.

On Your Resume
