TITLE: Facilities Maintenance Assistant
DEPARTMENT: Facilities
REPORTS TO: Facilities Director
CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt Part-Time
PAY RATE: $20-$22/hr.
WORK SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday 25 Hours/Week (Occasional Night/Weekends)
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Facilities Maintenance Assistant works under the direction of the Facilities Director and is responsible for the cultivation and routine maintenance of the grounds and buildings of the different club locations.
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities)
- Perform a variety of routine semi-skilled facility maintenance repairs, including, but not limited to, carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical trade work.
- Ensure that the facilities are available for use and consistently maintained in a safe and clean condition.
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of equipment, supplies, and products, and inspect facilities and grounds for safety and security.
- Move and lift heavy items regularly.
- Inspect damaged parts, determine the nature of repair, and use repair tools to rework or refinish worn or damaged parts.
- Repair minor problems of buildings and foundations including roof, ceilings, walls, floors, and all mechanical contents of the building.
- Deliver and/or pick up supplies when needed.
- Work with contractors and consultants to coordinate and implement any work that needs to be done.

RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal:
Maintain close, daily contact with staff and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/instructions, instruct and advise/counsel.
External:
Maintain contact and build relationships with staff, external staff, vendors, contractors, and consultants.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma Required
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in handyman/maintenance work
Required Skills
- Proficient with appliance installation, carpentry, basic plumbing, minor electrical wiring, maintenance, and renovation.
- Ability to communicate effectively with contractors and consultants.
- Must have prioritization and time management skills.
- Ability to accumulate and analyze data to plan appropriate interventions.
Other Skills
- Candidate must pass a Level II Background screening and drug screening
- Must have a valid Driver’s License and proof of insurance
ENVIRONMENTAL AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
This position generally works Monday-Friday during daytime hours but may occasionally require hours in the evening and/or weekend.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to stand for long periods of time; bending and squatting when necessary
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to maintain high energy level when necessary
- Ability to have frequent communication to convey detailed or important spoken instructions accurately
- Ability to walk between buildings and up and down stairs
- Hearing at a normal conversational level
- High degree of emotional intelligence
