<strong>Position Overview<br></strong><br>

<br>The Teen Program Coordinator is a leadership role responsible for co-developing, implementing, and supervising engaging, safe, and impactful programming for high school-aged members and Counselors-in-Training (CITs) during the summer program. This position supports both traditional teen programming and structured leadership development initiatives, helping teens build confidence, responsibility, life skills, and a strong sense of belonging.<br><br>
</div><div>This individual will serve as a mentor, facilitator, and role model, working to create a positive Club culture where all teens feel seen, heard, valued, and supported. The Teen Program Coordinator must be comfortable taking initiative, leading independently, and managing both structured programs and day-to-day operations, including stepping into a leadership role when the Teen Director is not present.<br><br>
</div><div><strong>Core Responsibilities</strong></div><div>
<strong>Program Leadership & Implementation<br></strong><br>
</div><ul>
<li>Co-lead the daily operations of the High School Teen Program and CIT Program</li>
<li>Plan, organize, and facilitate engaging, age-appropriate activities that align with Boys & Girls Club priority outcomes (Academic Success, Good Character & Citizenship, Healthy Lifestyles)</li>
<li>Develop and implement at least two structured, evidence-based teen programs for CITs (examples include <strong>Money Matters</strong>, <strong>Diplomas2Degrees</strong>, or <strong>Career Launch</strong>)</li>
<li>Adapt programming to meet the diverse needs, interests, and abilities of participants</li>
<li>Ensure all activities are well-prepared, organized, and executed with clear instructions and expectations</li>
<li>Create weekly and daily program plans, including contingency plans for weather or schedule changes<br><br>
</li>
</ul><div>
<strong>CIT (Counselor-in-Training) Development<br></strong><br>
</div><ul>
<li>Mentor and guide CITs in developing leadership, responsibility, and workplace readiness skills</li>
<li>Provide hands-on coaching in areas such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and professionalism</li>
<li>Assign CITs meaningful responsibilities and support them in completing tasks effectively</li>
<li>Offer constructive feedback and encouragement to support personal growth</li>
<li>Model appropriate behavior, work ethic, and leadership at all times</li>
<li>Facilitate reflection activities to help CITs process their experiences and growth<br><br>
</li>
</ul><div>
<strong>Sports & Recreation Programming<br></strong><br>
</div><ul>
<li>Design, organize, and run a <strong>3-on-3 basketball program or league</strong> for high school members</li>
<li>Create schedules, teams, and rules that promote fair play, inclusion, and positive competition</li>
<li>Supervise all games and practices, ensuring safety and sportsmanship</li>
<li>Engage non-participating members through alternative recreational activities</li>
<li>Incorporate teamwork, leadership, and character-building elements into sports programming<br><br>
</li>
</ul><div>
<strong>Youth Supervision & Safety<br></strong><br>
</div><ul>
<li>Provide active, consistent supervision of all teens to ensure a safe and supportive environment</li>
<li>Maintain awareness of all participants at all times (headcounts, transitions, etc.)</li>
<li>Enforce Club rules, policies, and behavioral expectations fairly and consistently</li>
<li>Address conflicts or behavioral issues calmly and constructively using positive behavior management techniques</li>
<li>Identify and respond appropriately to safety concerns, incidents, or emergencies</li>
<li>Follow all mandated reporting requirements and Club safety protocols<br><br>
</li>
</ul><div>
<strong>Relationship Building & Youth Engagement<br></strong><br>
</div><ul>
<li>Build strong, positive relationships with teens, creating an environment of trust and respect</li>
<li>Foster a sense of belonging where all members feel included and valued</li>
<li>Encourage participation, leadership, and peer support among members</li>
<li>Actively engage with teens during activities rather than supervising passively</li>
<li>Serve as a consistent, supportive adult role model<br><br>
</li>

<strong>Leadership & Site Responsibility<br></strong><br>
</div><ul>
<li>Serve as the lead staff member in the building when the Teen Director is not present</li>
<li>Ensure all programs run smoothly and safely in the absence of direct supervision</li>
<li>Make responsible decisions regarding program adjustments, safety, and behavior management</li>
<li>Communicate effectively with other staff to maintain consistency across programs</li>
<li>Assist in opening/closing procedures as needed<br><br>

<strong>Administrative & Organizational Duties<br></strong><br>
</div><ul>
<li>Maintain accurate attendance records and program documentation</li>
<li>Assist with tracking participation and program outcomes</li>
<li>Help prepare materials and supplies for daily activities</li>
<li>Support communication with families and staff as needed</li>
<li>Assist with special events, field trips, and guest speakers</li>
<li>Ensure spaces are clean, organized, and set up for success<br><br>

<strong>Collaboration & Teamwork<br></strong><br>

<li>Work closely with the Teen Director and other Club staff to align programming goals</li>
<li>Support overall Club operations and assist in other program areas when needed</li>
<li>Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities</li>
<li>Contribute ideas to enhance teen engagement and program quality<br><br>

<strong>Qualifications <br></strong><br>
</div><ul>
<li>Experience working with teens (high school age strongly preferred). </li>
<li>Previous experience in youth development, summer camps, education, or recreation programs</li>
<li>Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills</li>
<li>Ability to manage groups effectively and maintain structure</li>
<li>Comfortable leading activities, facilitating discussions, and engaging groups</li>
<li>Ability to work independently and take initiative</li>
<li>Reliable, punctual, and professional<br><br>

<strong>Preferred Qualifications<br></strong><br>

<li>Background in sports programming, coaching, or athletics (basketball preferred)</li>
<li>CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain)</li>
