We’re building the future of accounting operations with Otto AI — our internal AI-powered workflow system that handles a big part of repetitive accounting work through QuickBooks Online (QBO) and automation.
That means this is not a traditional boring bookkeeping role where you manually do the same thing forever. We want smart accountants who can work with technology, review outputs, solve exceptions, improve systems, and bring real financial intelligence to the table.
We’re hiring:
- 1 Junior Accountant / Bookkeeper
- 1 Senior Accountant / Finance Lead

What You’ll Work OnCore Responsibilities
- Manage and review books using QuickBooks Online (QBO) + Otto workflows
- Reconciliations, month-end close, clean-up work
- Accounts payable / receivable oversight
- Review automated entries and fix exceptions when needed
- Maintain clean books, documentation, and audit-ready records
- Improve internal accounting processes
US Accounting Focus
- Work with US-based businesses and accounting workflows
- Apply GAAP rules in day-to-day bookkeeping
- Journal entries, accruals, adjustments, revenue recognition, reporting
Tax + Compliance
- Familiarity with IRS tax forms and supporting documentation
- Help organize books for tax filing readiness
- Experience working with EA / CPA teams is valuable
Shopify / E-commerce
- Shopify payout reconciliations
- Sales tax understanding
- Inventory, COGS, returns, refunds workflows
- Multi-channel ecommerce accounting is a plus
Who We’re Looking ForJunior Role
- 1–3 years accounting / bookkeeping experience
- Basic to good QBO knowledge
- Comfortable learning new systems quickly
- Strong attention to detail
- Good English communication
Senior Role
- 4+ years in bookkeeping / US accounting
- Strong QBO expertise
- Deep understanding of GAAP principles
- IRS forms / tax workflow experience
- Can independently manage books and review juniors
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving startup environment
Must-Have Skills

Non - Negotiable Requirements
✅ US GAAP: Solid working knowledge of US GAAP: accrual vs. cash basis, revenue recognition, and balance sheet fundamentals.
✅ Typing Speed: Minimum 65 WPM with high accuracy. Tested during the interview process.
✅ Excel: Highly proficient in Excel using keyboard shortcuts only. Live screenshare test conducted during interview — no mouse permitted.
✅ AI Fluency: Actively using AI tools in your workflow (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, or similar). Required for all team members.
✅ Time Commitment: Minimum 60 hours per week. Do not apply if managing other full- time or part-time commitments.
✅ Availability: Available for meetings 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM PST, Monday through Friday, without exception.
✅ Internet Speed: Minimum 100 Mbps download / 20 Mbps upload. Speed verification may be required during the interview.
✅ Communication: Available and responsive via Slack and email on both computer and mobile during working hours.

Interview Process
We run a focused, three-stage process designed to evaluate both your technical skills and how you think. Here is what to expect:
1. Interview with Accounting Manager
An introductory conversation about your background, experience, and approach to accounting work. Following this interview, you will complete a working personality assessment before advancing.
2. Interview with Accounting Manager + COO
A technical round. You will walk us through a three-statement financial model live via screenshare. You must navigate the entire sheet using keyboard shortcuts only — no mouse. You will also explain each financial statement and how they connect to one another.
3. Interview with Founders
- A final conversation focused on culture fit, long-term goals, and your interest in growing with Otto AI.
