About The Role
The Bookkeeper & Payroll Administrator at RRA Group will play a critical role in managing the company's financial records, payroll processes, and compliance requirements related to trucking operations. This is a senior-level, hands-on position designed for an individual with proven experience in North American logistics accounting, specifically within the trucking industry. The successful candidate will work independently, ensuring accurate and timely bookkeeping, payroll processing, and regulatory reporting to support the company's operational and financial goals.
This role requires meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to handle multiple responsibilities efficiently. The ideal candidate will be proactive, accountable, and comfortable working remotely within a structured environment. While this position does not involve supervisory duties, it demands a high level of professionalism, technical expertise, and familiarity with industry-specific accounting practices.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2+ years of bookkeeping experience with North American companies (Canada and USA).
- At least 2+ years of hands-on experience using QuickBooks Online (mandatory).
- Direct experience in trucking or transportation accounting is essential.
- Proven expertise in Canadian payroll processing, including T4 preparation and CRA compliance.
- Strong understanding of GST/HST and IFTA reporting requirements.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, including complex formulas and data analysis.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating accountability and reliability.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills to meet deadlines consistently.
- Fluent in English, both spoken and written, with professional communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Manage the full-cycle bookkeeping process for trucking and logistics operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Handle Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, including fuel cards, tolls, permits, and vendor payments.
- Process Canadian payroll, including driver settlements, reimbursements, and T4 filings, ensuring CRA compliance.
- Prepare and file GST/HST returns and other CRA-related reports accurately and timely.
- Oversee IFTA and provincial fuel tax reporting, maintaining compliance with relevant regulations.
- Perform bank and credit card reconciliations to ensure financial records are accurate and up-to-date.
- Track equipment costs, depreciation, and maintenance expenses to support financial analysis.
- Prepare monthly financial statements, including Profit & Loss statements, Balance Sheets, and Cash Flow reports.
- Support year-end closing processes and assist with audits by providing necessary documentation and reconciliations.
- Maintain organized financial records and ensure adherence to company policies and industry standards.
