About The Role
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Bookkeeper & Payroll Administrator to join our team. This is a senior-level role designed for a professional who can independently handle full-cycle bookkeeping, payroll processing, and compliance management specific to trucking operations within the North American market. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of trucking industry accounting practices, including managing fuel taxes, permits, driver settlements, and regulatory reporting requirements. This position offers a hands-on opportunity to contribute directly to our financial operations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to industry standards.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years of relevant experience in bookkeeping within North American companies, with a strong focus on the trucking or transportation sectors. Proficiency in QuickBooks Online is mandatory, along with proven experience in trucking/transportation accounting. Candidates should possess a solid understanding of Canadian payroll processes, including T4 preparation and CRA compliance. Expertise in GST/HST and IFTA reporting is essential, as is advanced proficiency in Excel. Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken, are required to effectively collaborate with our North American team. The ability to work independently with minimal supervision is also crucial.
Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle bookkeeping for trucking and logistics operations, ensuring accurate recording of all financial transactions.
- Handle Accounts Payable & Receivable, including fuel cards, tolls, permits, and vendor payments.
- Process Canadian payroll, including driver settlements, reimbursements, and T4 filings, ensuring compliance with CRA regulations.
- Prepare and file GST/HST and other CRA-related reports accurately and on time.
- Manage IFTA and provincial fuel tax reporting to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Perform bank and credit card reconciliations regularly to maintain accurate financial records.
- Track equipment costs, depreciation, and maintenance expenses to support financial analysis and reporting.
- Prepare monthly financial statements, including Profit & Loss statements, Balance Sheets, and Cash Flow reports.
- Support year-end closing procedures and assist with audits to ensure compliance and accuracy of financial data.
