About The Role
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Bookkeeper & Payroll Administrator to join our team remotely. This senior-level position requires an individual capable of independently managing the full spectrum of bookkeeping, payroll, and compliance activities specific to trucking and logistics operations within the North American market. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of trucking industry accounting practices, including Canadian payroll processes and tax reporting requirements. This role is hands-on and does not involve supervisory responsibilities but demands a high level of accuracy, accountability, and proactive problem-solving skills. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining financial integrity, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting the company's operational and financial objectives.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will meet the following qualifications:
- Minimum of 2+ years of bookkeeping experience with North American companies (Canada/USA)
- At least 2+ years of hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online (mandatory)
- Direct experience in trucking or transportation accounting (mandatory)
- Proven expertise in Canadian payroll processing, including T4 preparation and CRA compliance
- Strong understanding of GST/HST and IFTA reporting requirements
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and other relevant accounting software
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage multiple priorities effectively
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, with a focus on accuracy and detail
Responsibilities
The core responsibilities of this role include:
- Managing full-cycle bookkeeping for trucking and logistics operations, including recording transactions and maintaining financial records
- Handling Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable activities, such as managing fuel cards, tolls, permits, and vendor payments
- Processing Canadian payroll, including driver settlements, reimbursements, and T4 filings, ensuring CRA compliance
- Preparing and filing GST/HST returns and other CRA-related reports accurately and timely
- Managing IFTA and provincial fuel tax reporting to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
- Performing bank and credit card reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy
- Tracking equipment costs, depreciation, maintenance expenses, and other operational costs
- Preparing monthly financial statements such as Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow statements
- Supporting year-end closing procedures and assisting with audit preparations
