About The Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Finance Assistant/Accountant to join our finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing various accounting and financial tasks to ensure accurate record-keeping and compliance with financial standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting practices, proficiency in financial software, and the ability to handle multiple responsibilities efficiently. The role primarily operates during US business hours, aligning with our global client base and operational needs.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as an Accountant or in a similar financial role, demonstrating a solid understanding of accounting principles.
- Strong proficiency in QuickBooks, Excel, and Google Sheets, with the ability to build complex models and perform detailed data analysis.
- Experience in budgeting, financial planning, and preparing financial statements and reports.
- Excellent organizational skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
- Ability to structure data and formulas in spreadsheets to ensure clarity, readability, and auditability.
- Exceptional analytical skills and the ability to interpret financial data effectively.
- Highly reliable, professional, and proactive in communication and problem-solving.
- Strong time management skills with the capability to meet multiple overlapping deadlines independently.
- Full responsibility for work from start to finish, including proactive communication about capacity and potential roadblocks.
- Optional: Familiarity with the Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) tax credit process is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Perform bookkeeping activities using QuickBooks, ensuring all financial data is accurately recorded and processed in a timely manner.
- Prepare and manage budgets primarily utilizing Excel, creating detailed financial models and forecasts.
- Build and maintain complex Google Sheets models that are easy to follow, with clear and consistent logic for financial analysis and reporting.
- Maintain organized record-keeping and filing systems for all financial documents to ensure easy retrieval and audit readiness.
- Handle day-to-day accounting tasks including reconciliations, journal entries, and financial tracking to ensure data integrity.
- Support the development and improvement of accounting practices, including optimizing workflows and processes for efficiency.
- Utilize Excel and Google Sheets for detailed data analysis, financial reporting, and strategic planning.
- Assist in preparing accurate financial statements and reports as required by management or regulatory standards.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, internal policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare briefing notes and financial summaries ahead of review meetings to inform leadership of key figures, variances, and decision points.
