Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Canadian Bookkeeper to manage day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting activities for Canadian clients. The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of Canadian accounting practices, GST/HST, bank reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and month-end reporting.
The candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and supporting clients with timely and compliant bookkeeping operations

Key Responsibilities
Maintain accurate books of accounts for Canadian businesses.
Record and categorize daily financial transactions.
Manage Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR).
Perform regular bank and credit card reconciliations.
Prepare and maintain general ledger accounts.
Review and reconcile vendor and customer balances.
Handle GST/HST calculations and prepare information required for GST/HST filings.
Assist with Payroll processing and payroll-related accounting entries.
Prepare monthly and year-end financial statements.
Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.
Track expenses, reimbursements, and business transactions.
Identify discrepancies and resolve accounting issues.
Maintain proper documentation and accounting records.
Coordinate with clients, accountants, and other stakeholders when required.
Support preparation of reports such as Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, and Trial Balance.
Ensure bookkeeping records are maintained in accordance with applicable Canadian accounting practices.
Assist with year-end working papers and provide required information to Chartered Professional Accountants (CPAs).
Maintain confidentiality of client financial information.
Required Skills & Knowledge
Strong understanding of Canadian bookkeeping and accounting principles.
Practical knowledge of GST/HST.
Good understanding of Canadian business expenses and accounting treatment.
Strong knowledge of bank and credit-card reconciliation.
Understanding of AP, AR and General Ledger.
Basic understanding of Canadian payroll and payroll deductions.
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets.
Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to independently manage multiple client accounts.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Accounting Software
Experience with one or more of the following is preferred:
QuickBooks Online
Xero
Sage
Dext
Hubdoc
Wagepoint
Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets
Qualification & Experience
Bachelor's degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field preferred.
2–5 years of bookkeeping/accounting experience.
Experience working with Canadian clients is mandatory/preferred.
Previous experience in an accounting firm, bookkeeping firm, BPO/KPO, or Canadian business is an advantage.
Preferred Candidate Profile
Experience handling multiple Canadian clients.
Familiarity with Canadian provinces and applicable GST/HST requirements.
Experience working with small and medium-sized Canadian businesses.
Strong ownership and ability to meet accounting deadlines.
Comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
CPA firm experience will be an added advantage.
