The Accounting Analyst is responsible for performing moderate to complex accounting and financial analysis for a multi-specialty, multi-location physician practice. This individual will proactively analyze financial data, identify trends and variances, and provide actionable insights to support leadership decision-making. The role requires a self-starter who can work with limited supervision and take initiative in investigating financial results.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Prepare moderate to complex journal entries with supporting documentation.
- Perform balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Analyze income statements by location and specialty, identifying trends, key drivers, and variances.
- Conduct root cause analysis on financial discrepancies and performance fluctuations.
- Benchmarking
- Review and interpret financial statements for a multi-location physician practice.
- Prepare financial reports and/or presentations for executive leadership.
- Identify areas for operational and financial improvement and recommend corrective actions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather data and support financial initiatives.
Skills/Abilities:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Proactive mindset with the ability to dig into financial data without prompting.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, formulas, data analysis).
- Ability to translate complex financial data into clear insights for non-financial stakeholders.
- Operates with a high degree of autonomy under limited supervision.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or related field required.
- 5+ years of relevant accounting or financial analysis experience.
- Experience in healthcare and/or physician practice accounting preferred.
