Job Title: Body Shop Maintenance - Team Member [Shop Floor]
Job Summary:
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Junior Engineer to join our Body Shop Maintenance team. The role demands a high level of commitment toward ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and supporting critical maintenance operations within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities – Body Shop Maintenance
- Ensure maximum uptime of Body Shop equipment including robotic welding lines, presses, conveyors, and automation systems.
- Perform preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance to minimize production interruptions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues in robotic systems (welding robots), PLCs, sensors, actuators, and servo systems.
- Maintain and support spot welding systems, MIG/TIG welding equipment, and weld controllers.
- Monitor and maintain hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems for optimal performance.
- Analyze recurring equipment failures and implement root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective actions.
- Support new equipment installation, commissioning, trials, and line ramp-up activities.
- Ensure calibration and alignment of fixtures, jigs, and welding guns to maintain product quality.
- Work closely with production and quality teams to address process-related issues impacting weld quality and throughput.
- Maintain accurate records in CMMS including breakdown reports, MTTR, MTBF, and maintenance logs.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives (Kaizen, TPM, Lean practices) to enhance equipment efficiency.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety standards, LOTO procedures, and statutory compliance.
- Manage critical spares inventory and coordinate with stores/procurement to avoid shortages.
- Train and guide technicians/operators on basic maintenance and equipment handling practices.
- Support energy-saving and cost-reduction initiatives in maintenance operations.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering (mandatory).
- Sound understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical systems.
- Exposure to automated systems and controls will be considered an added advantage.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
- High level of attention to detail and accountability in maintenance activities.
- Willingness to work in shifts and adapt to a dynamic manufacturing setup.
Tools & Technologies:
- Working knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Hands-on experience with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic instruments.
- Familiarity with industrial safety practices and usage of PPE.
- Basic proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word) for reporting and documentation.
