Job Title: Cleanout Technician
Department: Quality Assurance
Location: On-site 
Shift: Rotating, 12 hour Night Shift (Purple), 6:00 pm - 6:30 am including some weekends 
Wage: Starts at a base of $21.84/Hr. with additional $2.00/Hr. shift differential

Position Overview: The Cleanout Technician assists in cleaning out production machinery and manages and operates cleaning equipment.

Key Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:
  • Executes proper cleaning of production equipment following dry cleaning methods as outlined in Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP’s).
  • Cleans surrounding machinery area, including mezzanine and area floors.
  • Works with team members to effectively complete all cleaning job tasks in a timely manner.
  • Assists in cleaning all areas of production machinery and equipment, in a food-safe manner to prevent cross contamination.
  • Maintains, manages, and operates cleaning equipment.
  • Reports any concerns with the plant, machinery, SOP’s, and SSOP’s.
  • Keeps towel dispensers supplied with clean towels and removes soiled towels daily.
  • Complies with all company policies and procedures and operates all equipment in a safe and food-safe manner.
  • Complies with Bob’s Red Mill food safety policies and procedures including adherence to FDA regulations, Safe Quality Food (SQF) Standards, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Responsible for reporting food safety and quality concerns to Supervisors and/or Department Manager.
  • Performs other duties and tasks as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • None.
  • This position reports to the Production Supervisor and Packaging Manager.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Understands how to operate a commercial parts washer.
  • Possesses effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Understands lockout-tagout procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical functions, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Proficiency with job-related tools and equipment.
  • Ability to read, understand, and communicate information in English.
  • Demonstrates Respect, Teamwork, Accountability, and Determination.
  • Ability to work in an environment where exposure to potential food allergens is or may be present.
Education and Experience:
  • 1 or more years of sanitation, manufacturing, or industrial cleaning experience, AND
  • High school diploma or equivalent; OR
  • Any combination of education and additional years of experience that provides the necessary skills, knowledge, and ability to perform assigned tasks.
Physical Demands:  
  • Occasionally may lift items weighing up to 55 pounds.
  • May be exposed to significant extremes in temperature, noise, and dust.
  • Position may require standing for long periods of time.
  • Position will require walking, crouching, bending for long periods of time, and walking up and down stairs with occasional lifting.
  • Position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Work Environment: 
  • The primary work environment for this position is within a food manufacturing environment.
  • Use of personal protective equipment such as helmets, ear plugs, and hairnets are mandatory, and use of non-slip shoes is recommended.
  • Employees will be exposed to common food allergens.
