Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role located in Mumbai for a Board Game Designer. The Board Game Designer will be responsible for conceptualizing new game mechanics, designing engaging levels, and creating innovative board game content. Day-to-day tasks include designing gameplay experiences, iterating on game designs based on feedback, prototyping new ideas, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to bring games to production. The role requires creativity, attention to detail, and a passion for tabletop gaming.
Qualifications
- Expertise in Level Design and Game Design to create engaging and balanced gameplay mechanics.
- Proficiency in Game Development, particularly in developing prototypes and refining game concepts.
- Experience with designing across different platforms, including console and mobile games.
- Strong problem-solving skills and innovative thinking for creating unique gameplay narratives.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities to work with cross-disciplinary teams.
- Passion for board games and a deep understanding of industry trends and player preferences.
- Bachelor’s degree in Game Design, Fine Arts, or a related field is a plus.
Key Responsibilities
- Design original board game concepts, mechanics, themes, and rule systems
- Develop gameplay loops that are engaging, balanced, and easy to learn
- Create game prototypes using physical and digital tools
- Conduct and analyze playtesting sessions to improve gameplay experience
- Write clear and concise game rules, instructions, and design documentation
- Research market trends, player preferences, and competitor products in the tabletop gaming industry
- Balance game economies, difficulty progression, and replayability
- Participate in brainstorming sessions for new product ideas and expansions
