POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Yard Operations Manager is responsible for all yard operations, including safety, production, maintenance coordination, staffing, and customer interaction. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for running a safe, efficient, and profitable operation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
SAFETY & COMPLIANCE (TOP PRIORITY)
- Lead and enforce all safety policies, procedures, and houekeeping standards
- Maintain compliance with OSHA and environmental requirements
- Conduct inspections and immediately correct unsafe conditions
- Ensure employees are trained and following safe work practices
- Drive a zero-incident culture with full accountability
OPERATIONS & PRODUCTION
- Lead daily yard operations to maximize throughput and efficiency
- Oversee ferrous and non-ferrous processing
- Identify and eliminate operational bottlenecks
- Drive continuous improvement in processes and yard flow
- Coordinate maintenance to ensure equipment uptime
LEADERSHIP & TEAM MANAGEMENT
- Hire, train, coach, and develop employees
- Enforce accountability and performance standards
- Build a culture of ownership and execution
- Communicate effectively across all levels
FINANCIAL & BUSINESS MANAGEMENT
- Control costs and manage operating expenses
- Support budgets and track performance vs. targets
- Understand the financial impact of operational decisions
- Identify opportunities to improve margins
EQUIPMENT & FACILITY
- Oversee yard equipment and facility condition
- Coordinate repairs and perform light maintenance if needed
- Maintain a clean, organized, high-functioning yard

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in business or related field - OR - 5+ years of operations, manufacturing, or heavy industrial experience with leadership responsibility
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage operations
- Strong communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Scrap metal or recycling industry experience
- Ferrous and non-ferrous processing experience
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Mechanical or equipment troubleshooting experience
- Experience working directly with customers
