Job Summary:
The BLDC Motor Development Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, testing, and optimization of Brushless DC (BLDC) motors for high-performance applications such as drones, robotics, and electric propulsion systems. The role involves end-to-end motor development — from concept and simulation to prototyping, testing, and integration with electronic speed controllers (ESCs).
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop BLDC motors according to application requirements (torque, speed, efficiency, weight).
- Perform electromagnetic simulations using any tools such as ANSYS Maxwell, Motor-CAD, or FEMM.
- Collaborate with mechanical and electronics teams for motor housing, winding, and ESC integration.
- Optimize motor parameters including winding configuration, magnet selection, and rotor-stator geometry.
- Conduct thermal analysis, vibration analysis, and performance testing on prototypes.
- Work on controller tuning (ESC parameters, commutation, PWM frequency) for best performance.
- Prepare detailed design reports, validation data, and documentation for manufacturing.
- Support supplier development and quality checks for stator, rotor, and magnet assembly.
- Troubleshoot performance issues and support continuous improvement in efficiency and reliability.
Required Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of electromagnetic principles and motor control fundamentals.
- Experience with BLDC motor design, winding design, and testing procedures.
- Familiar with ESC control algorithms (FOC, trapezoidal control, sinusoidal commutation).
- Knowledge of materials (magnets, lamination steels, winding wires, adhesives).
- Hands-on experience with motor testing rigs, oscilloscopes, and measurement instruments.
- Proficiency in CAD and FEA tools for motor design (SolidWorks, ANSYS, Motor-CAD or etc).
- Basic knowledge of embedded systems and firmware integration for motor control.
