What is the Role?
This could be a great fit if your super power is organisation & collaboration. This role gives you the opportunity to grow into various parts of the business and shape a role for yourself as we scale.
The operations function is a crucial layer across our for key areas of business; Fundraising, Deal Flow, Portfolio Management and Community. A typical day or week can be pretty varied at Black Nova.
This means that one minute you could be helping document existing processes, or building reports or automations. Then you could be supporting back office payments, communicating with investors and our extended team of Venture Partners, and finally helping refine the sales and marketing operations for fundraising.
You can play a big part in refining what’s working, fixing what’s not, automating what we can, but never compromising on the quality of our work. Over time, and once you’ve built an understanding of how things are working, you’ll have the opportunity to create and co-create processes as you learn.
In short, we need someone that thrives in ambiguity, can bring structured thinking and efficiency, who won’t shy away from menial tasks, but can also switch gears quickly to work on bigger, long-term strategic projects with high quality, detail oriented deliverables.
It’s important to state that this role is focusing on Black Nova’s internal operations, not those of our startups. So if you’re looking for onsite operational work with startups, this isn’t the right role.
What Skills You’ll Bring

- Process Improvement & Internal Operations: Optimise our use of existing tools and identify areas for improvement as we scale.
- Reporting: Data entry, data management, hygiene and improvement.
- Portfolio Administration: Ensure key stakeholders (Partners, Founders, Venture Partners) have what they need to be successful in their partnerships. From taking meeting minutes and consolidating notes/actions, to organising a Masterclass, no task is too big or small.
- Investor Relations: Supporting the Partners to provide a consistent cadence with our investor community as part of our extended team.
- Sales & Marketing Operations: Work with relevant stakeholders to execute against our marketing and sales initiatives and ensure CRM is up to date. This could be anything from updating our website, preparing materials, or organising meetings.
- Communications & Events: Actively engage with our community around key events and benefits introduced by the Black Nova team.
- Administrative tasks: Signatures, paying invoices, receipt/expense management, office admin.
- Technology Competency: Confident with different software platforms and products (we use G-Suite, Slack, Notion, Hubspot and a few others). A major bonus point would be if you’re skilled with automations and integrations to help streamline day to day activities.
