Role Overview
We are looking for a passionate, commercially sharp, and result-oriented Manager / Assistant Manager – Trading to drive end-to-end bitumen and petroleum trading operations across designated territories.
This role goes beyond sales and requires strong expertise in both procurement and market-facing sales, including sourcing, pricing, negotiations, margin optimization, customer acquisition, and supply chain coordination. The ideal candidate should possess deep market understanding in bitumen, petroleum products, specialty chemicals, or related liquid commodities.
Key Responsibilities
Trading & Commercial Ownership
· Drive profitable trading operations through effective buy-side procurement and sell-side market development.
· Identify sourcing opportunities, negotiate competitive procurement terms, and secure supply availability.
· Develop and grow customer, trader, and channel partner networks across assigned territories.
· Manage trade cycles including inquiry generation, sourcing, pricing, deal structuring, execution, and collections.
· Take ownership of volumes, turnover, margins, and profitability targets.
Procurement & Supplier Management
· Build strong relationships with refineries, manufacturers, traders, and supply partners.
· Source bitumen and allied products competitively based on market opportunities.
· Negotiate pricing, credit terms, logistics terms, and supply contracts.
· Ensure uninterrupted product availability aligned with market demand.
Sales & Market Expansion
· Drive secondary sales through traders, channel partners, dealers, and institutional customers.
· Acquire new customers and expand wallet share with existing accounts.
· Develop territory strategies to maximize market penetration and revenue growth.
· Manage the complete customer lifecycle from lead generation to closure and repeat business.
Market Intelligence & Pricing
· Track market trends, competitor movements, pricing shifts, and arbitrage opportunities.
· Use commercial acumen to optimize trade margins through timely buying and selling decisions.
· Provide regular market intelligence inputs to leadership for strategic decisions.
Cross-functional Coordination
· Partner with sourcing, supply chain, finance, and operations teams for seamless execution.
· Ensure timely dispatches, documentation, payment follow-up, and customer satisfaction.
· Coordinate with marketing for product positioning and territory campaigns.
Key Requirements
Education
· B.E. / B.Tech in Chemical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering preferred
· MBA / PGDM preferred
Experience
· 5–12 years of relevant experience in commodity trading, procurement, and sales within Bitumen, Petroleum, Specialty Chemicals, or Bulk / Packed Liquid Products.
· Proven track record of handling both supplier-side and customer-side commercial relationships.
· Strong experience in driving volume growth, profitability, and territory expansion.
Skills
· Strong commercial acumen with expertise in pricing, negotiations, contracts, and margins.
· Excellent relationship management and stakeholder handling skills.
· Strong interpersonal, presentation, and negotiation abilities.
· Self-driven with strong planning and execution discipline.
· Ability to work independently while managing multiple territories.
· Willingness to travel extensively for suppliers, traders, channel partners, and customers.
