Role Overview
The Biomedical Engineer will lead the medical equipment planning, procurement coordination, installation, and commissioning of all clinical equipment across hospital infrastructure projects. The role ensures that medical technologies are integrated with hospital architecture and MEP systems to support clinical workflows, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Medical Equipment Planning
- Prepare Medical Equipment Planning (MEP) schedules aligned with hospital functional planning.
- Develop room data sheets and equipment layout integration with architects and MEP teams.
- Ensure compatibility of medical equipment with HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and medical gas systems.
Technical Specification & Procurement
- Prepare technical specifications and BOQs for medical equipment procurement.
- Support vendor evaluation and technical bid analysis.
- Coordinate with procurement teams for equipment selection and vendor finalization.
Integration with Infrastructure
- Coordinate with architects, MEP engineers, and contractors for equipment requirements including:
- Electrical loads
- Medical gas connections
- HVAC requirements
- Structural provisions
- Review equipment shop drawings and technical submittals.
Installation & Commissioning
- Supervise equipment delivery, installation, testing, and commissioning (ITC).
- Coordinate with vendors for factory acceptance tests (FAT) and site acceptance tests (SAT).
Compliance & Standards
- Ensure compliance with:
- NABH / JCI guidelines
- Medical equipment safety standards
- Local healthcare regulatory norms.
Documentation & Handover
- Prepare equipment asset registers, commissioning reports, and O&M manuals.
- Support hospital teams during clinical commissioning and operational readiness.
