About the role: Lead Data Engineer - Remote (Portugal) We are seeking a seasoned data engineering leader based in Portugal to drive and shape data strategy while working closely with our UK data engineering team. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with consultancy skills to deliver high-impact, client-focused data solutions across multiple sectors. The successful candidate will lead delivery teams, foster cross-border collaboration, and support business growth through pre-sales and solution design. What you'll do: Lead and mentor data engineering teams on diverse client engagements in Portugal and collaborate closely with the UK data engineering team to ensure seamless delivery. Architect and implement scalable, secure data pipelines and platforms using Databricks, Apache Spark, Snowflake, and cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or AWS. Provide thought leadership and strategic direction to align technical delivery with client business objectives across both markets. Work with clients and internal stakeholders to translate data requirements into actionable, measurable solutions. Support business development activities by contributing to proposals, solution workshops, and client presentations. What you'll need: Proven hands-on experience with cloud data platforms (GCP or AWS preferred) and modern data engineering tools in a consultancy or client-facing environment. Strong leadership skills with experience managing delivery teams and complex projects, ideally with cross-border collaboration. Excellent communication skills to engage effectively with technical and business stakeholders across Portugal and the UK. Commercially minded with a consultative approach to pre-sales and solution shaping.
