Job Summary
Shriram General Insurance is seeking a skilled Big Data Developer to design, develop, and maintain scalable data solutions for processing large volumes of structured and unstructured data. The role involves building data pipelines, developing data processing applications, optimizing data workflows, and collaborating with data engineering, analytics, and business teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable big data applications and data processing solutions.
- Build and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines for data ingestion and transformation.
- Develop data processing workflows using technologies such as Apache Spark, Hadoop, Hive, or Kafka.
- Work with structured and unstructured datasets from multiple business sources.
- Develop and optimize data models for analytics and reporting requirements.
- Integrate data from APIs, databases, applications, and external sources.
- Monitor data pipelines and troubleshoot performance, reliability, and data quality issues.
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, security, and availability.
- Collaborate with data analysts, data engineers, software developers, and business stakeholders.
- Prepare technical documentation for data pipelines, processes, and solutions.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
- Strong programming skills in Python, Java, or Scala.
- Good knowledge of SQL and database concepts.
- Hands-on knowledge of big data technologies such as Apache Spark, Hadoop, Hive, or Kafka.
- Understanding of ETL/ELT processes and data pipeline development.
- Knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases.
- Understanding of distributed computing and data processing concepts.
- Familiarity with Git and version control systems.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Knowledge of data warehouse and data lake architectures.
- Familiarity with Apache Airflow or other workflow orchestration tools.
- Knowledge of Docker and containerized applications.
- Understanding of data governance, data security, and compliance practices.
- Experience working in Agile or Scrum environments.
- Exposure to insurance, BFSI, or financial services data will be an added advantage.
