Experienced Underwriter

Experienced Underwriter About the Role: We're looking for experienced underwriters to join our growing team. As an Underwriter, you'll be responsible for analysing risk and making decisions on a diverse range of insurance policies. You'll use your technical expertise and commercial awareness to assess applications, identify and manage risk, and negotiate appropriate terms and conditions. Responsibilities: • Assess new and existing insurance applications to determine risk and eligibility • Negotiate policy terms, conditions, and premiums with brokers and customers • Monitor and review existing policies, identifying any changes in risk profile • Maintain underwriting guidelines and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements • Work closely with other teams, such as claims and actuarial, to share knowledge and insights • Continuously develop your technical and commercial expertise to support business growth Requirements: • Significant experience in a commercial underwriting role, ideally in a similar industry • Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to assess complex information and make sound, evidence-based judgements • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to a non-specialist audience • A proactive, collaborative approach, with a willingness to share knowledge and support colleagues • A relevant professional qualification, such as CII or ACII, is desirable but not essential
