Bethany Middle School is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our athletic department as an Assistant Middle School Soccer Coach. The ideal candidate will support the head coach in developing student-athletes' skills, fostering teamwork, and promoting a positive sports culture. This full-time position offers an opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of young athletes while helping them grow both on and off the field.
Responsibilities
- Assist the head coach in planning and conducting daily practice sessions, ensuring a safe and productive environment for all participants.
- Help develop and implement game strategies, drills, and training programs tailored to the skill levels of student-athletes.
- Provide individual and group instruction to enhance player development in technical and tactical aspects of soccer.
- Monitor and assess player performance, providing constructive feedback to promote improvement.
- Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship, respect, and collaboration among players.
- Assist in organizing and supervising team events, including games, tournaments, and community outreach activities.
- Maintain open communication with student-athletes, parents, and school administration regarding team policies, schedules, and player progress.
- Ensure compliance with all school, district, and league regulations related to athletics and student safety.
- Collaborate with the head coach to develop and maintain an effective practice and game schedule.
- Attend staff meetings and professional development opportunities as required.
Requirements
- Previous coaching experience at the middle school or high school level, preferably in soccer.
- Strong understanding of soccer fundamentals, strategies, and training techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire young athletes.
- Ability to work collaboratively with coaches, athletes, and parents to create a supportive team environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- A commitment to the academic and personal development of student-athletes.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends for practices and games as needed.
