Job Title: BESS Specialist – Technical Advisory & Engineering
Location: Pune / Coimbatore (India)
Reports to: Practice / Engineering Head – Solar & Storage
Type: Full‑time, Individual Contributor
Role summary
You will be our go‑to individual contributor for BESS modelling and analysis, supporting technical advisory and engineering assignments for grid‑scale and hybrid RE+BESS projects. The role is hands‑on, with emphasis on Python‑based modelling, sizing, configuration and technical due diligence within lender’s technical advisory, owner’s engineering and feasibility/EYA scopes.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver feasibility studies, conceptual designs and technical due diligence for front‑of‑meter and hybrid RE+BESS projects.
- Build and maintain Python‑based tools for BESS sizing, dispatch and performance assessment, including time‑series simulations and use‑case evaluation.
- Support energy yield and dispatch studies for hybrid solar+BESS plants (clipping capture, arbitrage, grid‑services).
- Review technical documentation from OEMs and EPCs (datasheets, layouts, warranties, performance guarantees) and prepare comparison notes and recommendations.
- Provide structured inputs to internal PV, electrical, civil and grid teams on BESS integration and key design interfaces.
- Contribute to client‑facing deliverables: reports, memos, presentations, risk registers and mitigation plans.
- Support construction monitoring and commissioning review activities, including design checks and performance test documentation.
- Track BESS technology, regulation and market developments in our focus geographies and feed insights into proposals and project work.
Desired profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical / Power Systems / Energy / Controls Engineering (or equivalent).
- 3–7 years’ total experience in renewable energy / power systems, including at least 2–3 years focused on utility‑scale BESS or hybrid RE+BESS.
- Strong analytical and coding skills, with hands‑on experience in Python and Excel for energy system modelling.
- Good understanding of Li‑ion battery behaviour, PCS/inverters, EMS/controls basics and typical storage applications.
- Experience in at least one of the following is an advantage: LTA/OE mandates, hybrid plant design tools, grid integration work.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, comfortable preparing clear, concise technical content for investors, lenders and IPPs.
- Proactive, detail‑oriented and comfortable working in a fast‑moving, multi‑project consulting environment.
